August 9th, 2017 11:14 PM #101Fair enough.
I'd say handling is also one thing that I want to consider. I would say these are my 3 top priorities:
1) Looks
2) Feature set
3) Performance
It goes without saying that cost is a factor, of course. I can live not having too much space as I can always make a workaround for my dog.

No. The old Innova never felt underpowered even with a full load of 8 people, and it only had 102 hp, 260 Nm of torque, and a 4AT.
The CRV has 120 hp, 300 Nm of torque, and a 9-speed AT.
In this video, you can see that it accelerates from 0-100 in 11.7 sec, which is just as fast as the more powerful PPVs like the Fortuner and Everest.

Take note that's with a 6MT. I would expect the 9-speed AT to be quicker.

August 10th, 2017 07:31 AM #107120hp and 300Nm in a car of this size cannot be considered as underpowered, but neither is it competitive. At this size and price point, it would be competing against the diesel Santa Fe and Sorento, both of which have 80 more horses and 136Nm more torque, though 3 cogs down in the tranny. IMHO its like fitting an Accent CRDi engine in a Santa Fe, while still maintaining full Santa Fe prices.

VW Golf GTS Business Edition+ should have everything you want. Adaptive cruise, forward collision warning with brake assist, blind spot monitor. Dog cage should fit in the back too. Great handling. Powerful at 150ps/340NM.
Athough it already has 18" wheels stock and a big sunroof, looks is subjective, you may like it or not, which may be the deal breaker.

Each one has its own opinions/biases on car choices but on your list above, I'd go with the Civic. I prefer a zippy drive. If I'm going for a diesel vehicle, I'd go with Volkswagen.
As most would say, most local buyers have no penchant for performance but what matters more to them is the brand name. Pinoys are quite brand conscious folks. The CRV will surely outsell the Santa Fe and Sorento.

Wow, didn't know the Business Edition of the VW already had advanced safety features. It presents itself as a good bargain considering the Everest Titanium Premium is the next cheapest car with those features.

It looks subdued but is an eye-catcher everytime I see one on the road.
