August 4th, 2017 08:54 PM #71Same problem last year. Everest trend or civic RS. Went for trend that time then had an extra to get a new car again this year and bought the RS.
Trend pag out of town or rainy day trips. Okay din sya tipid kmi ni GF sa hotel since fold flat 2nd and 3rd row, suv chassis is strong to support extra load and vibrations. :p
RS if I feel like going fast, or sunny day and I know the place Im going to has good road condition, etc... then I'll just bring extra money for a room... LOL.

Is your cage something like this?
Just saw it earlier when I had my car washed. It doesn't fit the Civic. Won't fit the XV either if you plan to put it in the cargo area - too wide, the XV has a really small cargo area.
It will fit bigger CUVs like the CRV or Forester.

It seems you need a big trunk to fit such a cage, go with the Forester then. The CX5's trunk is not that big for bulky stuff. The new Tucson also has a big trunk. For the Xtrail, you can fold down the 3rd row seats to accommodate such a cargo.
I think such a cage will fit the XV if you fold the rear seats but you might have a problem loading the cage. The trunk opening is not as wide as the one on the Forester.Last edited by Egan101; August 5th, 2017 at 07:13 PM.

His cage fits comfortably in the XV, as seen in the picture I posted (same size as the cage in my earlier post).
In fact, such a cage will fit even a Jazz as long as you fold the rear seats down. Such is the versatility of hatchbacks.

August 6th, 2017 12:50 AM #78Thanks for the pics. They definitely speak for themselves.
So the XV's cargo area is more than the Civic (obviously as it is a CUV) but does the Civic have more shoulder room than the XV?
Right. How I wish there was a Civic hatchback here. That would've made this a lot easier.
Truth be told, my dog rides in the rear seats (without a cage) in either the Montero or Fiesta I drive. It's just that there is a tendency wherein his paws/claws scratches the seats and the doors. If I could find some kind of a car seat cover for him then I won't need to bring the cage with me. You know how we are with brand new things, we tend to "overcare" (if there's even a term) when we first get them.

Dog paw socks?
The Civic has a bigger trunk than the XV's cargo area when the rear seats are up. It's just that the trunk can't load tall things like a dog cage, and even if it did, your dog would get suffocated in the trunk. It fits 2 full sized luggage bags just fine though, plus lots of room to spare for backpacks.
Shoulder room is also more generous for the Civic than the XV, since the Civic is a wider car after all.
