Surprisingly, quite good.
The Alphard is based heavily on the Camry.
Unsurprisingly, during our testing, the Alphard drove just like that... a much heavier Camry V6 with a slightly longer wheelbase.
It was less than a second slower to 100 km/h (faster, in fact, than a V6 Explorer). It was almost as quick through the slaloms. And it braked slightly better... probably because of the better front-rear weight distribution.
I would, without hesitation, take an Alphard out on the racetrack. Good steering, low center of gravity (despite the tall looks, a van like that has all its mechanicals down low, unlike an SUV where the floor, differentials and engine are raised higher off the ground), great brakes.
All you would have to do to make it more potent is to strip the interior and power amenities. It's around 2 tons, that would take it down to around 1.8 tons. Then replace the doors with carbon fiber or even just fiberglass. Add a sports suspension (hoping Camry struts and springs fit) and you're done!
Of course, it would be nice to add a supercharger for more oomph...![]()

Kumusta naman ang handling ng Alphard?
