A sedan is a type of car and not a size/category (small, subcompact, compact, midsize, full size).

marami pang humihirit sa vios kong 2004. takbo lang 53k so far. but no plans yet to get rid of it.
i agree.
perceived value is among the most influential points to ponder, when buying anything.
it can swing wildly from buyer to buyer. sometimes, even within the same buyer, depending on circumstances...
a person may be all set to purchase the car of his dreams. then he reads something negative about it on the internet, and thereafter avoids it like yersinia pestis.

to the average person, the fronts of the vios, yaris and even the altis, look similar enough as to be mistaken for one another.
heh heh.

Hello po. Long time lurker here. Unfortunately, I can't start a new thread because I need to post 5 replies/posts so I'll ask it here.
Balak po namin kumuha ng brand new car. Most likely Innova E Automatic (Automatic kasi palaging traffic dito sa amin). 2nd hand po dapat kaso yung uncle ko po na mekaniko ay nag-migrate na sa US kaya brand new na lang.
Tanong ko lang po kung:
4. Alternative to Toyota Innova?
Some things about us:
2. Travel is estimated to be something like SM Fairview to Technohub tapos every Friday, pupunta sa condo sa Manila para sunduin yung papa ko.
3. Planning on going to Samar to visit our relatives. Planning pa lang po. Siguro 2-3 years from now mangyayari yun.
4. After warranty, balak ko pong gawin na lahat ng PMS sa sarili ko kaya gusto ko pong Toyota or Honda muna yung first car namin.
Welcome to Tsikot and Merry Christmas! Great first post - very clearly articulated and you have a solid understanding of what you need in a car.
The Innova is a great car - I have always opined that it's the most practical car in the Philippines. Diesel, fuel efficient, relatively affordable, spacious, decent ground clearance, durable, reliable, high resale value. The only thing it isn't is exciting.
If you're decided on the Innova (best value variant is the 2.8E AT), try calling or visiting different dealerships. Make the agents bid for you - give them the best price you've gotten from other dealerships and make them match or beat it.

Thank you and Merry Christmas!
As a first car, I'm okay with it being not exciting. It's going to be a family car anyway and I'm still going to be practicing a lot since my driving school instructor and I didn't click.
Still not decided on the Innova. For the pickup truck, Ford ranger yung nababasa kong good yung ride quality kaso Ford. First car kaya gusto namin Japanese car muna o at least proven na rito sa Pilipinas na okay yung kotse. As for the Montero, winarningan kami ng kapitbahay namin na mahirap daw idrive yung montero kasi malaki baka raw mahirapan ako mag-drive kasi first time ko pa lang.
Yes, we are planning on visiting multiple dealerships (QC and Manila area only though)
I would recommend that at least you fulfill the requirements for the first 1000 km. I think you need to change the oil for the first month so make sure to have a lot of excuses to use the car to rack up the distance.
I don't see any problem with that. You can try to ask the dealer for it as a "free" item.

I've heard that you will be treated with "special care" if you don't pay it in cash.

As mentioned earlier by our moderator, which I also did, call all the dealerships around your area. They will surely give you a lot of offers, then you choose which is best for you.
4. Alternative to Toyota Innova?
I'll say that this is the best practical vehicle right now. The configuration is unlike a van where you aren't seating underneath the engine but still is similar to a van, a people carrier.
You fold the seats and now you have a lot of space to carry anything that will fit in.
I know you like the Civic, but you will cherish more the car you like when it is your second vehicle. And by that time, you will surely enjoy the fun factor of a car, the driving dynamics, the twisting roads ahead of you, the feeling of centrifugal force...
And you experience this altogether with your cousins, in the near future.

The Innova has 550mm wading depth, higher than most CUVs and is good enough for tire-deep floods.
I've owned a pickup and unless you're going to use the bed frequently, sayang lang. Your neighbor is correct that pickups and PPVs are quite hard to drive for beginners - I've seen so many newbie drivers hit curbs and struggle in parking slots with their big SUVs.
While PPVs like the Fortuner and Montero are good choices if you want something higher, these are almost half a million more expensive than an Innova. In terms of useability, the Innova can do everything a PPV can in the city, just without the macho looks.

Will also do this. First month then every 6 months. Hopefully, okay lang sa dealer to.
Oh, I can do this? I'll try po. Thank youI don't see any problem with that. You can try to ask the dealer for it as a "free" item.
Yeah. Kailangan lang naman namin ng car para sa transportation not for the thrill or fun it gives. As for the Civic, 2 or 3 years from now na lang ako bibili kapag sanay na talaga mag-drive. By then, my trabaho na ako at pwede na sigurong tumingin tingin ng 2nd hand cars.I'll say that this is the best practical vehicle right now. Thank you for the advise sir.![]()
Thank you for this. I guess I'm wrong.
This is why we are leaning towards the Innova. And for the looks, I'm okay with the looks of the Innova; not macho, but still okay.I've owned a pickup and unless you're going to use the bed frequently, sayang lang. Historically walang discount ang january. Kasi clean slate ang ahente. No incentive for them to sell more. Sa summer baka mas mataas discounts.
Usually may price increase ang january.

If flood is an issue in your area, by all means get the fortuner or Montero. Mahirap idrive malaki sasakyan? You'll get the hang of it in no time. Long term ang dapat iconsider na Mas importante kesa yung iniisip mong mahihirapan ka mag aral na mag drive ng malaking sasakyan sa early period of driving.
Dun sa warranty and PMS, tama sila, check the minimum requirements with your dealer so as not to void warranty. This may be x months or x kms, whichever comes first.
Aftermarket rear view mirror? I don't see any reason it would void warranty?
About dun sa civic, I admire you for considering your family's needs first before getting the one your heart wanted.
Good luck and Merry Christmas.
