old ford explorer are cheap to maintain as you keep it in stock mode. meaning don't oversize the tires, don't change anything as it was designed.

my 99 crv and my 05 explorer are the cheapest to maintain cars in my collection. you can never go wrong with gasoline, hindi dirty fuel eh and no TURBO!

You could get a 2007 forester. But I would only risk the flood up to the ride height (7-8 in). My sister has one and its a fun car

How about a Ford Escape 2.3L? You can get them fairly cheap nowadays. I have seen some 2009 models being sold for around 300k. Even 2011 models with mileage below 50k can be had for less than 400k.

In spite of the height, the Escapes were notorious for getting hydrolocked back in the day if memory serves me right. I think it's due to the intake design or location.

And it's prone to aircon problems, if I remember clearly.

why is it, that i identify american marquees with glitches?
is it the design, the build quality, or the lack of local expertise in maintaining them?

I changed the thread title. I'm trying to recall if we ever had a Ford since I was born. NONE. hahaha! We only had one American car is my lifetime ata.

Isn't the Ford Cortina popular in the 80s?

Di naman lahat. I guess the issues encountered by some has become so loud that it becomes a majority idea. If Ford cars are so unreliable, there would be not much left running on the road. The same applies to what some would say against Nissan vehicles.

I drove an old Ford Exped (1997) in the US before. Except for the high fuel consumption, it's one tough truck. When most people are stuck on the road with 6" of snow, the monster of a truck just keeps chugging along with its crude 4.6L V8 which produces less power than newer V6 NA or 4-banger turbo engines.

idk but even some americans hates ford. there was this couple in the forums who rants how the focus'(hatch) mechanical design made that crap daw.
life could be easier if it's made like this and that,,,, they say. the wife bought it second hand as her next project car, they've gone crazy with the car though and slapped so much on it, turbo and everything.

Ford casa does not train qualified technicians. Kaya be wary of fords.

On the other hand however, this was the reason I was forced to study cars in and out.

And my conclusion, fords sre truly built tough. American design is so simple, eveything is repairable and replaceable easily sa engine bay. Even the suspensions systems are so essy to repair and replace.

Get a ford if you are mechanically - inclined,

    -----

I doubt even those Ford higher ups in the Philippines know this, coz they're like other American firms here. Throw-away tingen nila sa products nila.

Most forumers in the US who love fords are red necks, yes those country boy who live in rural communities and mountaineous regions. I lesrned a lot from them

No they're not. Them rednecks/white trash prefer GM (Chevy, Pontiac, and GMC). Regular rural folks do like Fords and Dodge.

    Depends on the Ford.

There are some models and aspects that are unreliable (automatics for the big US variants come to mind... but the V8 engines are incredibly tough)... but there are others that are good.

    -

If you want a floodworthy vehicle, an older Ranger is not a bad bet.

A friend has had his CRDi Ranger flooded two or three times, and it still runs... on the original computer box.

The Hilux's computer is not water sealed. If flood water enters the cabin... goodbye 40-50k pesos.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Yup. Co-developed. It's only this current generation wherein Ford took over the majority of development.

I just saw a black ranger going to work. It was so tall it dwarfed the stock fortuner beside it. It's the new model AAN 3**6. If money weren't an issue, that would be perfect. I also saw him last night ata, takot ako sa laki.

If you sell your newer altis you can add 3-400k for a ranger or navara and still keep your old altis.
