I dailied a Sport Trac from early to mid 2000s. Arguably it's at least as comfy (I'd say comfier) as pickups of today, but it was gas guzzler.

Ride wise matagtag pa din because of leaf spring rears, and yes they are long and unwieldy.

You do get used to it, but after being away from driving pickups for several years I don't want to go back.

On the positives they do feel really rugged. You can drive mostly without too much care for rough pavement or potholes and you know the suspension can take it because it was designed for it.
On days the bed is useful it can really be useful, though I found those days were mostly few and far in between. Minsan lang naman mag haul ng plants for garden, or engine for project car.

IMO their cars are way overpriced. People were willing to give them a chance when they were cheap, but they've positioned themselves more in-line with the Japanese competition since then. Now that China is coming in the same people who were willing to take a chance on Hyundai/Kia are instead going with Geely, Cherry or BYD.

Wala naman totoong KDM enthusiasts coz we didn't grow up with them, and up until recently with WRC they have no motorsports pedigree.

i agree 100% with pickups. i have the same thoughts and experiences with my dad buying one pickup after another. back then i was happy just being able to have something to drive. di ko preferred vehicle ang pickup.

with kia and hyundai i am not surprised with how they have fallen. besides being too pricey in effect they give you no alternatives. ang inimport nila puro top of the line versions na number 1. mahal number 2. stripped out naman yung madami features compared to other markets or their competitors. (looking at you sta.fe and tucson)

ewan sa product planning ng hyundai. gusto mo siyempre bumenta pero allowed ka lang mag pasok ng isang model tapos ang ipapasok mo yung pinaka mahal na version for their models that historically were never the top volume sellers? kaysa moving in volume in sales ang baka prinority nila yung kita per unit. euro design and feeling upmarket can only take you so far.

agree on Honda... wala silang vehicle sa current line-up nila ang pwede ko i-recommend...

My sister just bought a HR-V (Turbo) pero it was the best choice from her options (ayaw nya ng hybrid)

Hyundai, they changed management this year, so let's see if they can bounce back next year.

Turning point pa ngayon ng Hyundai due to management changes.
Next year na magkaalaman if they will be back to top 5.
Saan nga pala sa ranking Hyundai dati during 2016-2019?
Eto yung time na masyadong nag mahal line-up nila eh.

PH car sales: Toyota’s 2022 sales have already surpassed pre-pandemic levels | TopGear PH

“In fact, Toyota sales as of November are already 8% higher than pre-COVID while the automotive market is now 87% of pre-COVID levels and catching up more quickly. I believe that the recovery could have been much further along if not for supply disruptions,” the executive added.
