Torque steer. Not limited to turbocharged cars. Any powerful FWD has this issue.

This is an interesting reference point:
THE ULTIMATE CAR GUIDE: Car Features - 25 versus 215 Car Sales Figures (SPECIAL EDITION)

Compared to 2005, 2015 already saw the decline of compact cars and CUVs in favor of PPVs. Subcompacts have also exploded in popularity over these 10 years.

Comparing 2021 to 2015, the PPV market has stayed pretty much the same, but pickups saw an uptick due to the impact of TRAIN. Compact sedans and compact CUVs are almost dead because of the rise of subcompact CUVs. Subcompacts remain popular, with minicompacts like the Wigo forming a new segment altogether.

Its not just the price, Pickups have improved vastly in those 10 years. An old Hilux is a very stiff and uncomfortable car whereas the new ones have a more palatable ride. They're now marketed as lifestyle vehicles.

The boom in sub-compact sales in 2015 was due to Grab and Uber entering the PH market in 2013 and 2014. They were both throwing venture capital money at each other so driving for either was very profitable. Just for the Vios though as the other cars arent used for ride sharing.

Kung pang-track naman, a 350-400hp LGT will have difficulty keeping up with a stock STi because of the weight, suspension, and transmission differences.

Can only dream Mazda PH brings the Mazda 3 AWD 2.5 Turbo here. Exactly 250hp and 420 Nm of torque.

I agree that pickups have become lifestyle vehicles for many. My first car was actually a pickup (2013 Ranger) and it had modern creature comforts and a refined engine. Very good value for money too because it was competing against the established Hilux and Strada. Ride was still not as good as a sedan though, and the added length was unnecessary in the city, so my next cars were sedans.

TRAIN had a pretty big impact even among the same model. The 2017 Hilux sold 14k units, in 2018 after TRAIN was implemented, they sold 18k units(+24% in a market that declined 15%).

The Mazda 6 2.5 Turbo is available, though noone seems to be buying it despite having more power than any other Japanese executive or compact sedan option (sans STi and CTR).

Test drove the Mazda6 2.5 Turbo when it was released locally. Too bad it was just within the streets adjacent to Bonifacio High Street. It is a really nice car. It is priced around the same as the Accord 1.5T which is a better deal since you have a more powerful engine on a similarly sized sedan.

Why not just buy a WRX or a Levorg GTS? You can have an MT tranny with the WRX.

Yep, actually eyeing for a WRX Eyesight to replace my Civic FC 1.8 next year. I don't mind the CVT really.

But if may option ako, I'd take the Mazda 3 Turbo since it's more modern and has probably the best interior in its segment. It also beats a WRX off the line and on the quarter mile. WRX CVT that is
