The FD is more fun to drive, has better handling dynamics, and will stretch very well on the highway. Overall build quality (the FD we had and that of my friends had parts wearing way ahead than usual) and low-range torque (notably when climbing) will favor an Altis, especially if it's a manual transmission. If you're getting an a/t, the FD will be my choice too.

At the end though, take a look at several makes and brands, and go with the one that also gives the best condition and has service records as well. First owner selling is a plus too.
Dang, I think I posted my car too low, definitely not allowing a 50k discount from my sticker price. [emoji24]

Between the 3ZZ-FE and R18, I think the R18 is better across the entire rev range. At low revs, the Toyota shines but since it's a weaker engine, it just matches the Civic which has so-so power at low revs. Once you get into the midrange though, the Civic begins to pull away, and after 5000 rpm it's no contest.

The newer 1ZR-FE is a good match for the R18 though, less boomy and more power on the midrange. And while it doesn't have VTEC-just-kicked-in-yo top-end power, it's linear enough and doesn't feel breathless until 200 kph.

Thank you for your inputs. Change of plans, though. A sedan may not be the best choice for us, so I'm looking at Avanza for the added seating capacity. Anybody who can share differences between 1.3J or 1.5G?

i recommend a nissan sentra. 1996 and younger.
i had one before. matibay. madaling manehuhin. marami pa namang piyesa.
    and because it's a nissan, "under-priced".

i second this statement! masyado lang underrated ang nissan dito sa philippines, pero maganda siya (one click start, di katulad ng altis ko 3 clicks eh well maintained naman)

ilang beses nabaha sentra ko nun nakatambak pa, pero now it runs like nothing happened, except maybe the clutch... and wala pa 15k ginastos ko sa pagpapatakbo!

    i like that bug-eye civic.
my only concern is the spare parts pricing.
i have never owned a honda car, but i am surrounded by them via my brothers' cars.

I used to drive a '96 civic vtec. Ok iyan sya kasi hindi naman naluluma basta makinis lang sya pormado man o hindi. Immortal engine if you treat her right

Spare parts aren't an issue and surplus parts still abound. Price is pretty negligible naman

to be or not to be, that always confuses me!

Is there any Sentra 200 2.0L owner here? I'm thinking of buying a 2nd hand and one of my considerations is the fuel efficiency. I've red some reviews before and its said that the Fuel consumption is at average 11-kilometers per liter/mixed driving and 9KM for city driving on the Automatic transmission. Just don't know if its somehow efficient if you compare to the sedans nowadays.

The seller is offering this unit at the price of 350K, 2014 registered 5K+ mileage M/T but i think its negotiable pa naman. Basic looks outside and features but I'm impressed with its very spacious interior kaya medyo nagugustuhan ko. I'm not planning of selling it again so resale value would not be an issue to me besides this will be my first car incase so I'm gonna keep it until maybe 10yrs+ pa hanggat tumatakbo pa

    • Is it worth considering po ba?
    • Fair po ba for that current value/price?if not how low can the price be at the specs?
    • How about the maintenance?parts price and etc?

Cause I've also found an accent and kia rio with the same price , Honda and toyota sedans were too pricey for 2014/15 models so medyo out sa budget ko after all nissan is from japan din naman daw with the same reliability, you guys can correct me I'm wrong I'm a first timer for this kind of stuffs.

Hoping you guys can give me feedbacks.

is this nissan the made-in-mexico model?
if so, there's very few of them around, as they were offered for a very short period only.
i do not know how the car is, mechanically, but the fact that they sold in very small numbers here, will make me think thrice before i buy one, even for a song. potential problem of scarcity of spare parts and all that...

with patience and luck, 350K will already get you a good japanese car.

i prefer buying from an owner who "needs the garage space for his new car to be delivered in 2 weeks". this type of seller is easier to talk to, and, i feel, honest-er than the guy who makes a living by selling cars.
with a little patience and luck, 350K should already get you a good used car.
i had a nissan sentra for 13 years. nice car. but as the nissans are perceived to be under-priced by "those in the know", 350K should be more than enough to score you a used sentra. you'll probably have money left over, even after the post-purchase fixin's.
that vios looks promising. for that price, an altis might be possible.
try the for-sale internet places, po. olx...

    happy hunting.

some says buying in olx are more risky, (stories about carnap units sold there) than buying from 2nd car dealer since they somehow give guarantees, clean papers/docs and etc. but you will also hear stories about dealers tampering odo to make it appear that the car is still fresh.

i might look also on some bank repos, oh well dilemmas on buying 2nd hand
