If you plan on powering your stock speakers on the head unit, you won't go far. Expect that your back will overpower your front.

Never a fan of coaxials. Get separate components -- midbass at the doors and use 3M double tape to mount the tweeters on your dash. Easiest way on how to "position" them is 30 degrees off-axis -- in normal language this means your left tweet should be aimed to your passenger and your right tweeter to the driver.

I'll also throw my vote with the JBL GT-5. If you think it isn't enough, get two. And no, don't get the pre-fabricated GT5-1204BR version, the bump in price is ridiculous. Just get the GT5-12 driver and ask your installer to fabricate a box on it. Is space a premium and you simply want to enhance the bass? If then so, 1 cu.ft sealed would do it.

Take markgy's advice. 4-channel amplifier -- 2 channels for the front speakers, and 2 channels bridged for the subwoofer. This is usually your typical "step 1" setup for most people.

Thanks for the advice sir, I went to our local shop here and i decided to get 2 sets of coaxials, and got the new 2013 kicker comp d 12" dual voice coil powered by the sound magus dk600 wired at 2ohms. the coaxials were powered by the hu, which is a toyota oem (panasonic), i asked the installer to make me a box, i think based on the measurements and rockford fosgate box wizard, its a 1.0 cu ft ported box. I was thinking of adding an amp for the speakers and upgrade the front to separates and leave the back speakers as a "filler". Still have to save some money though, but for what i currently have, im very happy with it.

My initial plan was to have 2.5 cu ft ported box based on manufacturer's maximum recommended volume, however the installer made otherwise. Im really new to this car audio thing, i had only researched as much as i could and this is my first hand experience with this.

I suggest get a 4 channel amp. to power 1 set of either coaxials or components for the front and a sub on the rear. No need to add speakers on the rear.

Thanks for your advice sir, im planning to add an amp to power the speakers, not sure what amp though. im checking us online shops since my cousin is going to us for a month and i could ask her to get me an amp. maybe it'll wait though, had to save some cash. thanks again!

The Rockford Box wizard will only tell you how to construct your box. Computing your ideal box on the otherhand needs more parameters.

For quick calculations, I like DIYAudio's box calculator: Speaker Box Enclosure Designer / Calculator

As you can see there, there are a few parameters you need to throw at it. The more important ones are the Qts and the Qtc. If I were to summarize it, these are subwoofer parameters that will tell you whether your subwoofer driver is designed for sealed or ported enclosures and what will the optimum box design and volume you will need. The Fb is the ported tuned frequency.. this is the frequency where the ported box is at its loudest -- a very common frequency is 38hz.

Okay, ano ang negative effects if you constructed the box wrongly? Alot of stuff really as your subwoofer performance is highly dependent on its enclosure. You see, you're not really required to follow the manufacturer's specifications because (in these ported box scenarios) your box volume will differ depending on its tuning. If your manual is wanting 38hz and your installer wants to tune it higher and make the box smaller, that's his call.

What would a bigger box usually get you? Efficiency. If your subwoofer cone's maximum one-way travel (remember that your cone bounces up and down during music playback) is achieved with 500W of power. Making the box larger will make you achieve the same output with a lot less output.. let's say 200W.

4.5k for the front doors only? I was able to cover the trunk, hood, two front doors and trunk side panels using 6 sheets of deadening and it only cost 900 pesos plus the heat gun which cost around 2k. Since hindi mo naman yata ilalaban ng competition yan, better DIY na lang. Ang gusto mo lang naman siguro eh maganda ang "bayo" nung pinapatugtog mo. IMHO lang naman.

Hello sir jhnkvn,
Ask lang ako ng expert opinion niyo. nag upgrade kasi ako to innova 2009 with stock 2DIN HU and all stock speakers. walang kwenta ang tunog kumpara sa dati kong system sa kotse na may Blaupunkt 550RPD + victor 6x9 na 3 way rear and pioneer 3way sa front. very basic lang ang set up pero kuntento na ako sa ganitong tunog lang.
First i want to change only the stock speakers sa front and rear sana with separates since may provision naman ang innova for the tweeter dome. I want to keep the stock HU muna since wala pa akong budget dito. may mga inputs na for tipid meals ok ok na ang ryan audio.
Ang benchmark ko lang is yung old setup ko which is good enough sa akin. not really aiming for high end and competition level sound system. What would you recommend po given this conditions.
Im from the south, las pinas, alabang ang area ko. Any shops you can recommend na malapit sa akin? Thanks in advance

Then I suggest you stop there and start saving funds for a 4-channel amplifier and a subwoofer. Even a small subwoofer will do wonders in improving your everyday commute. Who doesn't like bass ba?

Hi sir. Thanks sa input niyo. Plan to go this route first at tama ka kung hinde ako ma satisfied eh go to next step. What type of speaker would you recommend sa rear if i will change the front with separates type? Salamat ulit

Just get coaxials sa likod. It's a bit weird to have separates at the rears kasi.

For the brands, depends on your budget. I typically like Targa and Ryan Audio naman. They're excellent at their budget offerings.
