October 29th, 2004 07:23 AM #134I have an e36..
Always using coolant to for the radiator?? Nononono! use a 50/50 mix of coolant and DISTILLED water.
If it always overheats, replace the following:
waterpump, radiator, thermostat, hoses...depending on the mileage, its good to replace all of these at once. The plastic waterpumps can be considered as timebombs..you never know when they are going to explode!
Since its a 94, I would also check the following :
1. Guibo - transmission flex disc
2. Transmission Mounts
3. Engine Mounts
4. A/C Capacitor/Blower - Check the blower speeds at all levels
5. Tensioners, pulleys, & belts (A/C & Alternator)
6. Front and Rear Shock Mounts (CHECK THEM!)
7. Fan Clutch
Good Luck! Love the e36..and it will love you!

Wouldnt the local E36 320i be a better option over a US ver 318? Just wondering...

pwede ring hintayin mo muna lumabas yung new 3-series... for sure babagsak ang resale ng 2000-2001 na 3-series.

my thoughts exactly! with a U.S. version, you have to take care to check if the cooling system is tropicalized already. it is better to consider a 320i (1997 or 1998) local version for reliability and availability of parts. even the local 320i have common e36 weaknesses- 1. water pump, 2. thermostat, 3. rear sub-frame and rear shock mount structural weakness, 4. lazy engine. These, however, can be remedied easily.
btw, take note that the BMW casas will not service anymore any bimmers that were bought in the grey market! this was discussed extensively in the bimmerclubph website. not a big loss anyway since most bimmerowners find the casas here to be really crappy. there are very good aftermarket shops that cater to local bimmers.
btw, I'm a member of the local BMWCarClub. if you need assistance in scouting for second hand bimmer cars, just PM here in the board.
