    odell,
as far as d 3 series is concerned, 5 ang variants nyan. yung 316i, 1600 cc ang makina tapos d pa leather ang interior.it also comes w/ a manual tranny only.yung 318i limousine, facelifted na yung front and rear lights and it comes wid a new valvetronic engine.d engine is 1995cc kaya 2 liters na din and comes w/ a steptronic transmission. kaya nga lang, d leather ang interior and d mags are not d 7-spoke dat is similar to d 325i. yung 318i executive naman, same engine as d 318i limo pero leather ang interior at 7-spoke yung mags. d 318i m sport version has d same engine, interior, as d exec model pero has 17inch tires, stiffer springs, and d body kit. lastly, d 325i is d most powerful among d bunch due to its 2.5cc displacement and comes also w/ d steptronic transmission. hth:D

ano bang generation ang hinahanapan mo ng details?

E36 (early to late 90's) or E46 (1999 and up)?

    Some quick facts -

The normal E36 3-series was available in sedan, coupe, convertible and hatchback - with engine sizes ranging from 1.8 I-4 (may 1.6 din yata) up to 2.5 I-6 (325i/ci), with a max of about 180 hp. The E36 M3 (M-series) was a 3.2L I-6 making about 240 hp in US version and 320 hp for the Euro. The M3 is basically a top of the line 3-series with upgraded performance, suspension and brakes - but the difference is night and day

    E46 3 series is available with engines from 1.6 (316) to 3.0 (330). The 330i/ci makes 225 hp. The E46 M3 makes 333 hp with a 3.2L I-6.

Of course, when you say M-series it includes more than the 3-series variants. There is also the 400hp M5, based on the 5-series, and the M coupe and M roadster which are based on the Z3 platform with M3 engines

d 318i model wich has d 1995cc valvetronic engine has a rating of 143bhp. a brand new 318i m sport costs P2.390M. i tink a certified pre-owned m-sport costs P1.90M. jst check d newspaper regularly coz lagi namang may ad ang bmw weder brand new or certified pre-owned.

momoyster, you seem to know alot about bmw's. the pics on the bottom, is that your bmw? Am sorta like odell. thinking if I should get a sedan or an suv. if a bmw second hand or a new suv (budget constraint). Are you a happy bmw owner? how are parts, maintenance costs?

Just a correction, the 316i uses a 1.8 liter engine, and the e46 M3 has 343 bhp. The e46 318i is practically as fast as the e36 320i. With the latter having 7 more bhp, but carrying a heavier weight due to the six cylinder engine.

As for the e36 M3, the US version had 240hp, while the Euro version had 289. It is only the e36 M3 Evo which carried 321 Bhp, and there is only one known unit (a silver one) here in the country.

For 2m I would get a pre-owned e46 330d, and there is a black one with 15km at Prestige Makati. The diesel variant is suprisingly every bit as fast as its gas counterpart and is practically as fast as a US version e36 M3 :D

fundy, k naman ang bmw ownership. my knowledge only came from d brochure d sales agent gave us wen we got our 318i exec noong 2002.after a year, i only logged 4000km on d odometer.d sya gamit sa city trafic kac masyado, puro hiway driving lang mostly from manila to tarlac and bac. wen i brot it for service last april, roughly 5k ang bil ko, n dat was only change oil, brake fluid, and coolant. no major part ang pinalitan kac konti pa lang ang mileage. m preparing 4 an enormous bill wen major parts na wil be replaced. oder dan a high maintenance cost, bmws r rily fun 2 drive. kaya lang d fun ends pag rough na yung road, may baha, etc. dis wil be d domain of an suv alredy.wat i do, pag ok ang roads, i take d bmw.pag medyo unpredicatble yung weather or bad ang road conditions, i take an suv. in sum, try 2 evaluate ur vehicle application 2 get d right car. hope i made sense :D

Hamann, dis is also black e46 on d bmw forum.tnx 4 d correction.rookie owner kac ako e.medyo tahimik sa kabila ah :D

momoyster, I know BMW will be fun to drive, am just concerned about cost of ownership and headaches that come with it. People I know who have bmw's don't drive them everyday. Me I want an everyday day that is fun to drive and rewarding to own. My current everyday car is a pajero. The size and ride am ok with, just complaining about the 'slowness'. ha ha. am thinking if I should upgrade to new pajero or get a bmw. ... replace my lancer with a bmw.

Hamann, You're a pure blooded bmw? that your everyday car? Btw, bmwclub used to have a forum. is it gone now?

    fundy,

sir, medyo mataas po yung cost of ownership ng bmw. nagmakaawa lang tlga ako sa parents ko na kumuha nung medyo nakaluwag. yung gasoline expense, kapareho sya nung everyay car ko na galant vr, kaya naman nya na maka 7km/l. ang grabe lang tlga, as far as i can c ang headache ay yung expenses after paying d initial purchase, mahal ang parts n service, mahal ang insurance, mahal ang registration. d bmw wil b a gud everyday car, kaya nga lang, medyo oc kac ako sa mga paradahan dhil pag masikip ang paradahan, cgurandong magkakaroon ng mga dents agad, pinipili ko na lang yung occasions na gagamitin sya.i make it a pt 2 use it 2x a wk. nababagalan po kayo sa pajero?ako po e kuntento na dun sa capabilities nung 2.8 diesel pajero namin. kapag nasanay na kayo sa pajero, mas madami kayong dapat pag-ingatan pag bmw na dala nyo, ie, lubak, humps, pati pag approach ng inclines dahan-dahan na. pero sa speed, ok yun. also, b prepared 2 go w/ no tint for 2 yrs coz it wil void d vehicle waranty. pag tpos na yung waranty, dun palang pwede pa-tint.duno d connection but dat is wat d dealer told me. 8O
    odell,
d naman sayang kac yung pajero namin tlgang sa bukid gnagamit yun, minsan lang sya mabakante sa bhay pag umuwi dad ko from d province.'99 model pa ito na 4X4 pa wid a manual transmission.

pero do you think the BMW wud handle everyday beating?
yes it will and your service intervals will be quicker, and yun nga, medyo mas mataas ang maintenance costs. so mukhang pareho kami ni momoyster na 2x a week yung bimmer than use another beater car for daily. the beater car that i use now naman is a hilux, so parang night and day when i switch driving between both
