mbt, tnx!
Regarding parts naman OK lang kc madaling kumuha dito sa HK, ng mga surplus at mura lang basta ba marunong kang magtanggal hehehe.
Makupad kaya to?
Salamat din benchph1!

i'm going off memory here but i seem to remember the e36's having water pump issues and premature rear shock mount failures. not a serious problem but as the guys say - any part on a bmw is very expensive. the e36 also rattles too much (my personal opinion) but that is a minor problem.
other than high maintenance and the above issues, i believe the 4-cylinder bmw's are extremely reliable cars.
Tnx M54!
Mura lang kasi surplus dito sa HK, even if it's a Benz or a Bimmer. Yun nga lang kailangan marunong kang magtanggal hehe. Yung isang friend ko nakabili ng 4 mags with tires for only 17K pesos. In good condition pa to.
Yup, medyo mabagal siya. Not as slow as my blue turtle (the Pajero) pero not at par with other cars in its engine or price bracket.
Major problems? My cousin just spend Php 50,000.00 to have the a/c repaired. Pero that was at the dealership. Takot kasi siya sa aircon repairman ko (which could do it for a whole lot cheaper).

ok yan, e36 320i ko i got it w/ 42k mileage for 650t. mas hina lng hatak ng 4 banger compared to straight-six ng 320i. mabigat kc body ng e36 around 1,495 kilos i think. waterpumps lng ata may problema sa e36 bcos of plastic impellers ng waterpump nya...
OTEP, naka Pajero naman ;)
BlueBimmer, tnx! Mukhang sa bigat nga nung body. Just like M54's comment yung sa waterpump nga ang isang problem.
Mga napalitan sa E36 325i ko: Radiator (plastic upper neck), fan clutch, water pump and thermostat <--main cause of all replacement. Maingay na rin AC baka malapit na rin ito, ignition coil and starter are another weak link sa 325i.![]()
i think the prices are really about that range, the one your friend got maybe a bit cheaper but not surprisingly cheaper, i've been seeing '95 316i's for P400-500T
i think tama lang ang presyo...
that should be among the 1st batch of local 316... initial selling price niyan nasa 800T plus range... aircon should be even rotary switches... the newer ones have climate control na (same body).
316 have lower resale than 320, madaming nagkalat na 316 (compared to 320, 325)... parts should be available naman coz what i know its locally assembled.
and yes its slow for a 1.6, pero stable naman sa highway
just my 2 cents
IMO, just add a little bit and get the 6-cylinder 320i or higher displacement. the E36 body is pretty hefty for the 316 4-cylinder engine to carry.
The price is just right IMO. Check if the service records are complete though.
Although its a bit heavy, the 316i still performs well on the highway as German cars are really geared for that... handling and road feel of course would be very addicting. ;) I have an uncle with a 316i and he's happy with it and he says he gets good fuel mileage.
Of course, if he can spare 150K or so... the 320i is a good car.
i tested a 2nd hand 316i last year..not so good condition of the interior..(ripped cloth upholstery sa door ..madumi ang carpet etc etc).. my impression was that it was heavy and i wouldnt pay 500k for that car in that sorry state.. if i remember the rear suspension had some clunking sound kapag nag humps... since mabagal din naman ang 316 and cramped pa interior.. i would get a 95 volvo 850 turbo a/t for about P380k or maybe less
Advice ko lang, since your getting a 2nd hand BMW, try getting one from BMW Prestige Cars na lang. It will cost you around 20-30K Php more kaysa kung sa private owner ka bibili, pero sure ka na in good condition yung ibebenta sa iyo. When they sell the car to you, may kasamang 6 month warranty, so if ever may problema ka na makikita within the 6 months, safe ka.
Try this http://www.bmw.com.ph/virtual_centre...le_locator.htm
Galing dun sa Pre-owned program ng BMW yung sa pinsan ko. Pero wala nang warranty nang matigok ang aircon. hehehehe. Kaya shell out Php 50K.

do you think that buying a BMW E34 5 series is worth it? My friend is selling me his ride for around 700K.
how bloody would be the maintenance if ever?
mazdamazda,
the E34 5'ers are REALLY GOOD AND RELIABLE CARS!!!
There are a couple of non-casa bimmer specialists that can trouble shoot the E34 and that their labor will not cost you an arm and a leg. You can order parts from Basics in Libis. Moroever, the casas have rationalized their prices for "wear & tear" parts so its not that expensive anymore.
Make sure that the E34 you're planning to buy is in good running condition. That car is built to last.
i agree. yan ang everyday car ko dito, ang i've putOriginally posted by woodfire

160,000 miles into it...so far, water pump pa lang ang nasira
and it still runs good. 5 series din ang kukunin ko pag
nandyan nako sa pinas.
