guys any comment kung how long the Megs #20 paint sealant will last? sinubukan ko bumili and i recently applied it... kelan dapat next application? yung tipong hindi pa siya tangal pero malapit na?

Try applying another coat after 12 hours. You should be good for 4-6 months. Then maintain it using spray wax. That what I do with mine, 1 layer Klasse SG then spray wax after each wash.

Gusto ko itry tong Megs #20 na to. Pano ba dapat gawin dun? Wash lang, let it dry tapos apply #20?

Pwede bang de kamay lang? Or need talaga ng polishing tools?

I'm guessing that this was on the lower part of the car close to the tires? What tireblack do you use if ever?

How often do you use a paint cleaner? Safe ba ito pag madalas ginagamit?

ako sir minsan once a month lang gamit ko ng Step 1 Mothers/Paint cleaner if di maulan. pero kung maulan naman, 2x a month or every other week. kahit kasi naka wax ako every weekend, pag nag wash na ako using car shampoo with wax, after 2 weeks, medyo hazy na ang top coat kaya kelangan na ulit ng 3 step detailing. i guess di naman masama yung ginagawa ko kasi clear coat safe naman yung mothers products.

specially kung applied by hand lang and not by machine. yun nga lang, masakit sa katawan pag 3 steps na versus sa wash then wax lang or spray and wipe using QD lang.

Bird poop or squashed insect ideally tinatanggal agad. Acidic kasi ang mga fluids neto kaya habang tumatagal kinakain ang pintura. Lagi akong may dalang Nanosliq at MF sa oto for emergencies

AFAIK, dapat at most twice a year lang ang pag gamit ng mother's step 1 kasi abrasive sya

abrasive? hindi ba clear coat safe un? actually, I also use it sa pagtanggal ng mga swirl marks and spots sa car. pag walang effect, tska ako gumagamit ng mga abrasive like mothers scracth remover or rubbing compound.

Step 1 in the 3 steps system - Wax Forum

the link above explains that the Mothers Step 1 Polish/Paint Cleaner is a polish but not abrasive. Meaning, it cleans out the haze and imperfection of the top coat but does not totally remove swirl marks or light scratches. so based on this, it is safe to use unlike polishing/rubbing ompounds or scratch removers..

but on the link above states that it should be used once or twice a year only. well that is for cars used in the US where in the environment is much cleaner than the metro manila's. meaning the top coat does not haze nor degenerate as bad as the cars here.

i'm no expert but to be safe, using the paint cleaner/polisher Step 1 should be used as advised by Mothers at most 2x a year.

But for me, i use it as i see the need to remove the haze and imperfections of the top coat, but keeping in mind not to apply very hard so as not to thin out the top coat. as in tamang OC lang sa pag apply. But i use the glaze Step 2 more often when there are swirl marks and hairline scratches to HIDE these before waxing.

also, after getting introduced to microtex products here, i often use the nanosil, nano glos, and nanosliq more than the mothers products. not only cheaper but also easier to apply and buff.

but since di masyado maulan ngayon, i use the QD/nanosliq more often (weekly or after a light breeze when my car was just waxed) to keep the paint shiny and protected.

nagpapaint ako ng 4 panel (2 doors, quarter panel, yung side nung sa hood) lahat yun sa isang side lang...paguwi ko tsaka ko nanotice na ang gaspang ng roof, trunk and hood ko.you think overspray?

texted the owner of the shop and ibalik ko daw para pabuff nya yung gumaspang...

may question is kung ok ba pabuff ko nalang dun para wala na ko bayaran or go to detailing shop to have it clayed?(not sure kung nakukuha sa claying yung overspray)

Imo best pa rin clay. Pero dependi pa rin kung ano gagamitin sa pag buff baka abarsive compound, sayang lang clear coat.

Here's what I posted on another thread yesterday:

Generally, using rubbing compound immediately is too aggressive - you might be removing more clear than needed. In your situation, here's the steps I'd take, only moving to the next one if the previous step has not worked:

1. Mildly abrasive pre-wax cleaner (Mothers or Megs Step 1)
2. Somewhat abrasive polish (Meguiars Ultimate Polish or Swirl X)
3. More aggresive polish (Meguiars Scratch X 2.0)
4. Aggresive compound (Meguiars Ultimate Compound)
5. Very aggresive compound (Meguiars M105, Menzerna Power Gloss)

Always use the least aggresive product first. Also, when you use abrasive products, remember that there needs to be some passion behind the application - it's not just wipe on, wipe off.

Note that I skipped one step from the above - generally, I would use a non-abrasive chemical cleaner like KAIO before trying the other steps, but if you're talking about scratches, then KAIO isn't going to be doing much.

Twice a year ako sa KSG. I don't use KAIO, claybar lang pang prep ko. Pero pag nagka buffing machine na ko mag moms step 1 ako then polish.

Thank you for the added info sir. Step 1 is considered as mildly abrasive pala. I thought wala siya sa abrasive category just like a wax or a polisher.

Sa akin, na overspray na ako ng water based paint natangal naman ng clay sa BB. Basta maagapan kayang kaya yan. Pero kung epoxy paint yan baka mahirapan.
