if it's always on the same spot, be careful next time. you'll know it's the base coat when your polish applicator gets the color of your car. you may just glaze instead of abrading the topcoat...I think I have used 3M Auto Scratch Remover often on some spot treatment, and I have the feeling that I abraded much of the layer of the clear coat (or I may be just paranoid). If you must know, I used a light pressure on the application.
Should I provide a new layer of clear coat on those spot treatments? Or is the application of wax enough to seal the cured clear coat?
yes wax protects the clear coat. slip in UV protection and you're gonna be fine.
a new layer of clear coat is great if it's convenient for you. 3-4 months 3m Imperial Hand Glaze before you can really detail. i'm gearing up to be able to do this.
