Hi guys I'm new to the world of detailing but have learned a lot reading through this thread. Hope you detailing gurus can help me out with a few questions. TIA

1. Our garage is not fully covered so at times my car is exposed to the elements so I opted to buy an ELEVO waterproof car cover. Any comments about this?

2. I had my bnew car paint protected courtesy of BIG BERTS but coz I don't always have the time to do a quick wash in the morning after nightly rains, my car exhibited a couple of water marks in just 2 weeks. I tried having it washed and waxed but there was still a few marks left. What do you guys suggest?

3. I went to VIVID and they offered me the SOFT99 Dark & Black Wax with waterproofing qualities which minimizes water marks. They applied a small amount to a portion of my car and after wiping it off, they sprayed water over it and to my amazement the water beads slid right off the car while the other parts of the car still had water on it. They said the wax was silicone-based so I sort of hesitated coz the chemical might be bad for the paint. Can you guys clarify?

4. For the glass protection they offered the SOFT99 Glaco Roll-on water repellent which also moves water away from the surrounding glass of the car. They even claim that you wouldn't even need to use your wipers when its raining! What do you guys think?

BTW, please comment on my washing procedure naman. I always have my waxing done outside coz I don't have enough space in our garage kasi.

1. Wash the car with water only using an ordinary garden hose
2. Use MT Chamois (yellow) for drying while squeezing water off as I go (is it better to use the MT Elite drying towel a 3M sponge to absorb water faster instead?)
3. Use a mini squeegee for the windows
3. Apply Mother's QD as needed using the MT Ultra Plush MF (green)
4. Apply the Adam's VRT protector using the MT Ultra MF (violet) for the interior panels and the dash
5. Use a dry MT Suede MF (blue) to wipe-off the inside glass and the leather seats

1- wet car using b&d pressure washer (to remove dust & light dirt)
2- wash car using turtle wax car shampoo (starting from top to bottom)
3- rinse
4- dry using MT MF yellow
5- apply megs DC step 1 paint cleaner (wipe in wipe out)
6- apply megs DC step 2 polish (wipe in wipe out)
7- apply megs DC step 3 carnauba wax using b&d KP600
8- remove wax residue using MT MF red

piliin mo pala ang car cover mo, mas maganda siguro yung parang suede yung ilalim o cloth, kasi lakas makapag gasgas ng car cover e lalo na pag di soft yung ilalim,

soft99 products ok naman ang feedback dito e antayin natin yung nakagamit na, ako di pa ako nakakatry kasi medyo mahal pa sa carnauba wax ng megs pero kanya kanyang preference lang yan

IMO mahirap talagang mag wash and wax outside
kasi sa pag wash mo palang kalaban mo na agad ang water marks pati hindi recommended na magwax on hot surface

For the watermarks...ang dami din naipon dun sa kotse ko asar talaga yung casa ng Mazda mukang pangit ang storage ng mga new units. What i did was i used MOM's scratch remover for the spots that were tough to remove.

Thanks for the reply washburn, my car cover has cloth underneath and pvc on top for waterproofing kaya looks safe naman. Also, what I meant about having the wax done outside is getting it done by a detailer like big bert's. sorry for the confusion.

Chrome ba or painted yung grill mo?

Kung chrome i think metal polish will do the trick.

If painted try the least abrasive first. U can try a cleaner wax (mom's phase 1 / megs phase 1) or kung medyo mas malakas ng konti try mo yung Mom's Scratch Remover (eto gamit ko madalas read my earlier post - w/ red mazda 3 pics). Then follow-up with you current sealing / waxing routine as it strips the car with any wax applied on it.

thanks for the reply a4tech, the grill is chrome plated pero parang plastic lang. ano nga pla ok na metal polish for the car? My car is a civic FD nga pla thanks!

BTW< what kind of wash mitts are advisable? What material and color pra makita ko agad sa store? May nakita ako cali na MF mitts pero ang mahal naman around 600+ yun eh. TIA

sa mga chromel I use megs step 1 ok naman
hehe mahal talaga yung washmitts kaya ako foam nalang e, pero balak ko rin bilhin yung sa ACE hardware yung tig 200+ na washmitts hehe

Gamit ko po kasi yung Mom's scratch remover. Mukhang ok naman, it handles most shallow (note: hindi ramdam ng kuko), na scratches. Mahal kasi yung scratchX Php800 compared to < 500 Php na Mom's.

i read somewhere na ok din if not better yun 3m scratch remover & this is an essential item in your detailing kit.

with regards to 3MSR: it goes way back in this same thread. hand-applied with a MF so you can concentrate on precise areas.

anyway, the thing with ScratchX is that when it's used with a machine, it tends to gum up.

hi was able to buy 2 chenille wash mitts na at handyman already. now am wondering what shampoo to use naman. read in this thread about big bert's citrus shampoo pero am contemplating the TW ice car wash I saw at S&R. anybody used this na kaya?

also, will frequent use of the shampoo deteriorate my paint protection and eventually diminish the paint? I usually wash with water only and take the car to a car wash once a week for shampooing. TIA

I already had my bluish silver civic applied with the S99WB after having it paint protected at BB and am very satisfied with the results. this time, I plan to apply it on my 1 month old superior red santa fe which has also undergone PP at BB. do you guys think I should first apply a coat of wax before using the repellent? since the santa fe is dark colored, i would like it to have a deep shine before sealing it with the S99WB kasi. can't apply anything else after coz it will defeat the purpose of the repellent.

These are the steps I plan on doing:
1. Wash the car
2. Apply Mother's Showtime QD
3. Apply 3M IHG (will this affect the PP?)
4. Apply Mother's Reflections or a S99 authentic carnauba wax
5. Apply Soft99 Water Block

also, will a cleaner wax strip my PP? thanks guys!

Sir i'm not familiar with the s99wb but since u have it pp sa bb, ang suggestion sa akin ng bb is to top it off lang with pure carnuba wax. And yes, a cleaner wax will remove your pp. Sayang lang gamit and pera, i think Klasse AIO and SG pa naman gamit nila for pp.

Btw, san kayo naka bili ng s99 na nasa #4 nyo?

with the present weather we have, try to wash your car with shampoo always.

Guys if I apply carnauba wax (moms reflections or s99 authentic) on top of BB PP, do I have to wait for a curing time (?hours or a day) before I apply a water repellant sealant (S99 water block) or is it ok to apply immediately after buffing? TIA
