you can definitely use DACP / polishing pad with a ROP. these are the same people who instructed me to use speed glaze only on brand-new cars.

anyway, make sure to work the diminishing abrasives in. you have to do several passes with the ROP. Don't buff till the product becomes a powder. dry buffing na 'yun.. You should always stop before this while there's still a liquid film on the surface. Experience with hands-on practice will help you to gauge when to stop buffing.

After machine cleaning and polishing with the DACP you need to re-polish with a less aggressive polish and a softer pad. Then apply your wax.

for Megs products, para sa Pro Line nila, eto:
DACP and Speed Glaze.

It it advisable to use DACP on a surface with only minimal swirls? Will it thin the clear coat? Can you suggest a less aggressive polish as a 2nd step?

How about the speed Glaze? Does it contain cleaners or is it strictly a filler?

kung minimal swirls, go for the less agressive product. Speed Glaze. It's a very light polish.

#80 Speed Glaze is a great versatile product. aside from fillers, may diminishing abrasives din. if polishing by machine, speed glaze can remove the minimal swirls too. if by hand, halos parang glaze lang. It is meant to be worked until it is almost dry, but still somewhat wet so that it can be removed without smearing. use a MF for removal...

As it's name implies, diminishing abrasives pulverize as you work them against the finish. When used correctly, this will do 2 things:

1. Remove below-surface defects.
2. Remove their own marks as they reduce in size and polish out.

Yes, like all abrasive polishes, it will thin the CC but not to a considerable extent. (not as harsh as Rubbing Compounds, wetsanding...)

Hey masters. I've been shopping around for "consumables" for my new hobby. I got my Moms CA GOLD Pure Carnauba from true value earlier and since I had a lot of time today, I ventured to other smaller hardware stores of some department stores. I found some Soft99 Bi-Gloss cans for only 269!! Kewl! I also found Soft 99 RV (PHP 700++ White container, is that ok for red?) and Soft 99 Le Shen Polymer (Yellow can) and Le Shen Carnauba (Dark Can) for 269 also.

I know Bi-Gloss is a good bang for the buck wax. I was wondering about the RV (Snow and Mud Protection right?), and the two Le Shens. Anyone familiar with these? I was looking for the Soft99 Sealants (to partner with my Moms Carnauba) but could not find Fusso nor Gekki.

I also found this Prestone High Protection Wax which is a synthetic wax (supposedly a sealant too). Pretty cheap too.. Anyone try this? I read two positive reviews from autopia...

what hardware stores did you find those soft99's?

Zildjian: The hardware section of Landmark. Bi-Gloss, La Shen Polymer and La Shen Carnauba and RV (White container) were the only ones available. The first three looked new stock but the RV looked like old stock.

i think concorde still carries the soft99 products. but last time i was in concorde mega, i was unable to spot my fave Bi-Gloss can. buti na lang nakabili na ako sa SM manila, anlayo

I got me a bottle of the Prestone High Protection Wax for 349 (20 fl oz) from Landmark since I read some good stuff on autopia. Two reviews and mentions on the forums.

Really cheap! Some people are saying this could be a sleeper hit! I hope I get the same results as the reviewers. I now have a sealant to use with Moms CA Gold Carnauba!

Will post pictures when I get to apply it!

I will try IHG then Prestone then Moms Phase 3. :D

Masters: I have a question. When topping sealant with carnauba, I would need to wait for the sealant to cure right? I guess 24 hours should be ok.

After this, how should maintenance work? Just carnauba again every two weeks or should I do the whole shebang again? (Polish then sealant then carnauba again)

You'd have to wait 24-36 hrs. Make sure to QD the surface again before applying another coat of wax.

Sealant should last a couple of months, so you can wax around twice a month or more depending on your mood and free time . Then apply sealant once every 2 or 3 months.

once you top a sealant (try working on multiple layers for even coverage and maximum shine) with a carnauba, that's it. don't apply additional layers of sealant anymore. maintenance na lang. what you can do is re-apply your carnauba on a regular basis. sealants are durable and should last you for a good 2-3 months. what you are basically doing now is just working on the paint with a layer of sealant underneath.

are you polishing ba with abrasives or just pure polish lang? if ever, if you're only using a IHG-Wax combo, you can do this as often as you like... as long as you're topping IHG (which is just a glaze BTW) with a pure wax.

Pahabol na uber noobie question pala. When buffing, do you just wipe the dried wax off or wipe vigorously as if polishing until the paint is really shiny?

just remove the excess product. no need to buff vigorously afterwards.

buffing / wiping excessively will just disrupt the layer on the surface.
