You can use cleaner wax. Or Mothers Step One. Or any other cleaner wax / polishers. But I highly recommend Mothers.

BTW, I used the xtrail last night and it rained.. Would that affect the curing of the wax? I hope not. I don't want to do this again any time soon with the xtrail. too big! I'm only going to do my own car in the future.
yup. pag syntethic ang gamit mong LSP. definitely would affect the curing process; dapat no touch ng water. but we don't live in a perfect world, do we? kaya stuff like that happens.

Obviously I have a long way to go. Not really shiny (just looks clean). What I did like was that the paint was now really really smooth!
welcome to this crazy hobby. hope you enjoy it. btw, the results look good. but, I agree with you... you can still push the envelope.

you only can get either of the two extremes when doing your ride: Shine OR Depth. since its dark, are you leaning towards depth? or do you want to add more oomph and make it real shiny? synthetics (particularly sealants) give the ride the "plastic, candy-coated" look. carnaubas, on the other hand, can make your ride so deep and so wet that you'll want to dip your hand inside.

you'll settle into a preferred particular look (done by your fave product combo) eventually in this ride.

you want to remove excess products sa trim and nook and crannies? I use a barbecue stick wrapped with MF..

kung medyo matagal na talaga, get a paint cleaner / finish restorer / scratch remover and remove the little stuff. believe me, its the small details that count. once you do that, it definitely adds to the overall look and makes it look brand new again.

Zechs: Thanks! Buti na lang di masyado mahirap mag apply ng wax and nakapag pahinga ako ng 30 mins (during drying of the wax).

Dehadista and ILD: Thanks for the tips! Will try those soon! I'm thinking I want the paint to go to the deep side! (I will not underestimate the power of the deep side).

Are carnauba waxes the only way to go with this path? I was thinking of getting Megs NXT or Mothers Synwax for my car (and use the SCLW sa rims, ok lang ba yun?) since I could not find any premium carnauba waxes at my suking tindahans. More shine than depth ba yung mga yun?

If carnauba is the only way to go, what could your recommend? Wala na akong makitang #26 yellow wax sa true value.. Kung meron man, by the gallon ata. Mahal! (Onti lang detailing supples down south)

    Thanks again!

for rims, prefer ko sealants because of their durability.. wax melts away kaagad due to the heat generated there.

Carnauba has its trade-offs. compared to sealants, wax doesn't last much in terms of durability. its look is very much different too. but, when it comes to depth being produced, I'd go with this one. Mother's Phase 3 is among the few available here. Soft99 is ok too.

as for NXT and Synwax, these 2 are direct competitors with each other. both of them are synthetics and have some slight cleaning and filling properties.
I've used NXT for a while (finished a bottle already) and I noticed that it gives great results and looks improve after a day or so (curing). My only complaint is the dust attraction.
IMO, the look produced by Synwax is very much similar to NXT. However, Product removal is better for synwax. This is what I'm using right now in one of my vehicles.

IMO, the best results out there come from proper preparation.

patopig: if you want both depth and durability you can first apply a sealant, after curing, apply a coat of carnuba wax. I've heard a lot of people doin this routine. Havn't tried it tho.

Dehadista: Have you tried Eagle One's Nanowax? Saw it on a newspaper ad the other day. Available ata sa bigberts.

I did. It fills well and dries fast but slickness doesn't last long..I like the idea na pump sya though. looks are nice but not "wow". a bit average in that department IMO. Actually mas gusto ko yung Cleaner wax ng EO.

How long does this last based on your experience? Am looking for a new cleaner wax once my Mothers Cleaner runs out, I'm currently doing one-step detailing, have no time for a two or three step procedure hehehe...
