What pad would work best with a DACP?

worthless yung chalk / lipstick ng Turtlewax if car is Clear Coated. piece of crap if you ask me...

    Dito sa pinas

So my best bet would be a Megs # 21 from Simex. BTW I just bought the Megs DACP in Las Pinas, thanks for the reco patopig . Can I use this with the 3M Waffle Pads and ROP?

ILD: umm.. AFAIK wala pa yung #21 dito sa Pinas. But you can still get #20. it's what they have there & it's a sealant too.

no problem in applying it with a ROP. its faster.

after sealant you can top it with your LSP such as carnauba if you wish. it depends on the look that you want.

actually I'm itching to try #21. naiinip na nga ako sa order ko. hehehe. from what I've seen and heard, the #21 provides a look very similar to NXT. pero this time, sealant na talaga.

Wow. The sealant that NXT never was. Heheheh. I hope simex brings that here soon.
After much searching (Several large hardware stores in Las Piņas, Alabang, and Makati) I finally got hold of two 3m waffles (old stock)! Yay! I'm itching to try them out this weekend. I only need to buy a real polishing pad now from Megs and not all. Should the red cutting pad be ok considering I have two 3m blacks already?

patopig: you can never have enough pads. you can use the waffle pads for wax application and the red polishing pad for cleaner wax/polish application. BTW are you getting the 6" or 8" pads?

are you talking about the Megs Red cutting Pads for ROP? hmm medyo hindi advisable yun. from experience, I use the Red Cutting Pad for Rotary only.

the oscillating action of the ROP causes severe hazing when combined with the red cutting pad. medyo mahirap tanggalin yan using ROP when using milder polishes / polishing pads.

what pads would work best with the oscillating action of an ROP?

tipong Polishing Pads lang.. something like Megs Yellow Pad or anything at this level.

wool pads and severe cutting pads hindi advisable. but these give excellent results on a direct-drive motor (Rotary).

in a nutshell, Rotaries can use some Pads which ROP can't.

Dehadista: Thanks for the advise. Wokidoki. Will stick to the regular polisher pads. In this regards, is the megs yellow polisher pad any different from the 3m black waffle polisher pad? (I think both can be used for polishing and application but not for compounding).

Also, would these polisher/applicators ok to use with a medium abrasive/cleaner such as DACP?

ILD: Yup! Hahanap pa nga ako. Sa ace southmall ko pa nakita, 2 last. Really old stock. Is it really a little smaller than the rubber backing plate of the kp600? I need to search other ace shops soon! Baka may tira pa.

What I really like with the 3m pads is the price! I can buy almost three 3Ms (if only they were available) for the price of 1 Megs. Hehehe.

    Yes to both Q's.

    1) well, both pads are polishing pads...
    2) definitely pwede DACP. work it in.

ganito: for Cutting, Leveling & Compounding, armed with the right CUTTING PAD, a Rotary can do these superbly. for a ROP (variable speed pa dapat), well... it's gonna take you a long time.

depending on your skill level, this can do some serious hazing / damage to your paint.

Dem, have to get that Rotary if thats the case.

Wahehehe. Scary. I guess I'll limit myself to the mild abrasives like speed glaze or 3m machine glaze for my car. I'll just use the DACP on really old vehicles (just for learning purposes I guess) and as a plastic polish.

BTW, I did try that! I used the 3m Compound with a polishing bonnet, then DACP with freebie foam applicator then 3m machine glaze on the badly scratched rear light plastic of my Dad's old GSR, it really works! Funny thing is the left rear lights look new now and the right rear lights look old. Hehehe. Will fix that tomorrow.

zechs: Not sure, you'd have to ask vince about it. AFAIK they paint protection system, maybe you can avail that package.
