    so kulang talaga ang SG. collinite pa dapat.

    grabe kasi testimonials sa net. left outside for the winter, 6 months non-washed, no garage & parked on the street side, etc.

    na amaze lang siguro sila dahil sa contrast ng resulta.

    ang imperfections kasi nakikita sa iba't ibang angulo tsaka ilaw. baka hindi na nila kinilatis.

    *indiej: actually Klasse SG should outlast Collinite. Klasse SG to put it down to the basics is like applying a very very thin layer of polyer film on your car. Now this film helps in preventing oxidation as well as color aging as its main function, and preventing watermarks just come as a bonus. Now if you apply 1 layer of Klasse SG this should actually be enough to cover your car for 3 months harsh weather but layering multiple layers of klasse SG also thickens the layer of polymer film, now whether you apply 1 or 3 or 5 layers of Klasse SG it will all boil down to how deep the water mark can eat through the polymer film and eventually the paint. Lets say you apply 1 layer of SG and you get lucky that the water left on your car was cleaner and dried quickly lets say it was a windy day then your SG should still be able to hold up. Now if its acid rain or the water you used has a high mineral content then even if you slap on 5 layers on klasse SG it would still eventually eat through. The proper mind set on klasse SG would be that its just a tougher sacrificial layer on your paint. Tougher in the sense that sealants have a denser chemical composition. Collinite can also provide protection but it would last a lot less than the klasse SG since its a wax, and waxes no matter how they claim to resist soap is still wax and soap in its nature will still fade out wax.

    As for the claims of collinite lasting for a very long period of time, that is actually true and there's no exageration there, but you have to take note that collinite waxes lasts that long in their country's condition. In our country sadly, the weather takes a huge toll on our paint, if collinite can last up to 6 months for them for me its at most only up to 2 months and 2 weeks tops. Other claim that Mom's Step 3 can last up to 3 months in US, heck i'd be happy if it could last me 2 weeks of rainy weather here in the philippines.

    The best way to maintain a nice paint job and in your situation, prevent water marks would be to have a layer of wax everytime it rains, in short wax regularly. If a monthly waxing regimen can't hold or deliver the protection you need then you might consider waxing every 2 weeks.

    Now if you already have klasse SG and want that really tough protection, then try what time doing at my daily drives. 2 layers of Klasse SG and 2 layers of collinite 476 every 6 months for starters, just also be sure that you have removed that water marks, followed by a weekly spray wax treatment after my weekly car wash and maintained by 845 for its monthly waxing. So far it has given me great results, im saying this because what might be sufficient for my cars paint condition might not be sufficient for yours. But of the myriad of products i've tried this has by far given me the best protection and not to say less important, proper washing is also equally important in maintaing a wax's durability, so always use wax friendly shampoos

    *lancepower: yes and no. yes, if its gonna be applied properly meaning without putting to much pressure on the paint while applying and buffing it off. And yes if the car goes through a lot of oxidation and needs the cleaning effects. Now if your car has a very thin layer of clear coat already then my answer would be no, even if most cleaner waxes don't reduce clear coat like polishes, repeated weekly then it would still eventually very very slowly reduce the clear coat. If you're looking forward to weekly waxing then i would suggest you just get any other pure carnauba wax either Moms step 3, or TW hard shell and use that as your weekly wax and use the TW Cleaner wax monthly to remove paint contaminations and to bring out the paints brightness.

    Either one would do. Some points to consider though:

    1) The choice of LSP would be a matter of preference on your part;

    2) There are factors aside from climate that affect the durability and protection of the LSP.

    3) Regularly stick to a waxing (or paint care) regimen. In this way, you'll ensure that there'll always be some sort of protection on your paint from the elements.

    Hope this helps.

    It would be difficult for me to only choose one. I pick LSPs that I would use on a particular detailing session based on my mood and situation.

    What LSPs do you have?

    I see.

    IMO, for a start, you could get the Mothers Ultimate Wax System (Step 1 - Pre-Wax Cleaner, Step 2 - Sealer and Glaze, and Step 3 - Carnauba Wax), then refer to this detail guide.

    I just have a humble collection of LSPs, as I am a firm believer that the shine or gloss results from the paint prep, and not from the LSP, which for me is mainly for paint protection.

    In my situation, our cars don't have a covered garage, which is why, in between machine polishing sessions, I regularly use a cleaner wax topped with my choice of LSP.

    Thus, from that situation, I would either choose to use:

    1) Mothers Reflections Car Wax (for light cleaning), topped with Mothers Reflections Top Coat;

    2) Mothers Carnauba Cleaner Wax topped with Mothers Reflections Top Coat or Eagle One Nanowax;

    3) Meguiar's ColorX, topped with Meguiar's NXT 2.0 or Reflections Top Coat; or

    4) Carlack68 Nano Systematic Care, topped with Meguiar's NXT 2.0 or Reflections Top Coat.

    Recently, I've been using the Finish Kare 2180 Polywipe Sealant Conditioner. I have not topped this one as I want to take advantage of its anti-static properties.

    Madkatz could chime in with regard the other brands of waxes or sealants. I think she has a larger collection of waxes and sealants in her arsenal.

    In the meantime, I hope this helps.

    *water: hmm based on the harsh climate we have here the best way to protect the paint of the car would be to wax regularly, now it doesn't matter that much what wax you use either from TW hard shell up to the better ones, all waxes can still give protection. Now if its a question regarding sealants and waxes i don't have any recommendations or preference over both personnally, my recommendations would depend whether you could wax regularly ( every 2 weeks or every month? ) or seldomly ( twice a year? ) In most cases sealants outlast waxes in providing protection, but waxes give better protection against the elements. So if you could wax regularly i would recommend you use wax, now if you can't commit regularly i would recommend sealant, but if its me i would recommend you apply both, this way you get the protection of the waxes and on the occasion that the wax protection is gone, you still have the sealant as a back up secondary protection and this is what i do on my cars. Now if you're gonna ask me which ones are more durable for waxes it would be collinite 476, dupont carnauba wax and FK hi temp wax and klasse SG, optimum opti seal and megs 21 for sealants

    hope this helps

    *jon: haha i think you still have more LSP's compared to me and you definitely know more than i do

    Hi madkatz,

    Salamat sa magandang advice.

    So pag aanalyze ko ang sealant mas maganda pag tag-ulan at wax pag summer. Tama ba?

    Im starting pa so mag stick muna ako sa wax. Yung mga wax na inadvice mo available sa malls?

    May alam ka din car wash shop na covered talaga (may bubung) pag magpapa wax? Kasi majority car wash shop may bubung nga half-naman.
