I guess they couldn't keep up with the emission standards, hence, took to software to do it.

The fines can reach $37,500 per vehicle and your talking about 500,000 in the US alone. Repair for the cars will be at VW's expense.

Hmm. If it's as simple as software removal they can get away with almost half of the cars para mabawasan fine nila.

Reminds me of Samsung and HTC yata yung nahuling nag ooverclock ng CPU pag nadedetect benchmarking apps.

They actually were able to keep up with the emissions standards. It's just that, they chose to relax their emissions system after the test to probably boost fuel economy and/or increase performance.

If I would venture a guess, I'd say that they're likely disabling or reducing the function of the EGR system once the test has been concluded. The reduction of NOx gases is one of the main goals of the EGR, at the expense of a slight reduction to mid-end power, and then some.

Bagsak ang stock nila sa US markets. Does not reflect well at all at their products. And to think taga pa ang prices ng mga kotse nila.

Diba sa US, they hate cheaters. Dito naman satin, it raises eyebrows but no one really cares. Besides, the US is Euro 6 standards, Philippines is barely Euro 4.
