while some strict historians will say that moving the day diminishes the solemnity of the event,
many filipinos favor this new arrangement.
... well... maybe excepting those who had earlier filed for leave on aug 23...
    you can't please everyone.

Many people book flights months in advance in anticipation of these holidays. Weekdays, particularly in the middle of the week, are a good time to fly since flights are usually not as full and airports are less congested.

I'm sure there was also a lot of people who weren't happy with the last minute holiday change.

    as an aside,
    may mga kilala kami,
minimission at pinagsusunugan nang kilay ang panunuklay, months in advance, for dirt-cheap plane fare promos.

Yun mga rebel without a cause pwede naman sila pumasok pa din sa 23rd. Wala naman nagpipigil sa kanila. Para 3 days lang weekend nila.

Baka yan pa ang mga mauuna mag out of town sa Friday.

    Hehe that's me!
But I don't mind the change at all, now my leave will be unconsumed.

I would think majority (aside from the historians) would be in favor of this reorganization of holidays.
Having a one day break in the middle of the week tends to make people momentarily lose track of things.

It is the second consecutive time that the palace did not declare the EDSA Revolution Anniversary as a holiday. The first one last year received backlash from critics, with a group calling the non-declaration as start of "state-sponsored historical whitewashing".

The Office of the President that time said it was not treated as a holiday since it falls on a Sunday. However, EDSA People Power Anniversary in 2025 is Tuesday.
