You're probably right. But I think it could also be semantics.... the OP needs to confirm if the noise is heard WHILE he's stepping on the clutch or AFTER.

If the noise appears WHILE the the pedal is being depressed, that's the release bearing. This would be #3 symptom above.

But if the noise appears immediately AFTER the pedal has been depressed, that's the pilot bearing/bushing. This would be the #4 symptom.

The way I understood his post is that the noise appears when the clutch pedal is held down.
