Thanks.

    Sirs/Ma'am need your help:

Car: Civic 2001 (VTEC3 aka Dimension)
Problem: Slight delay changing from P to D or from N to D from stand still. When you step on the gas as soon as you change to D, the car will jerk and will hear a "tug" sound. Usually will wait for half a second and wait for it to engage into drive and then step on the gas.

Car shifts from all 4 gears without slipping or delay, and will shift on the right RPM depending on how much pressure you put on the gas pedal.

Car still has a lot of torque, just went to tagaytay just this long weekend with the car fully loaded (5 adults with cargo) and still very satisfied with the pull of the vehicle.

Can anybody confirm that the problem might be a solenoid or a relay? I'm planning to have my ATF changed by a dialysis machine one of these days. But I'm not quite sure if the ATF they will use (Mobil1 or any other dexron III atf instead of Honda's expensive ATF-Z1) will help or just aggravate the problem.

I can live with the problem. I'll just make sure that I shift in D before the traffic lights go green, but I want to make sure that I'm not aggravating the A/T problem and will in turn be a costly repair in the near future.

Any inputs/suggestion is welcome. Thanks in advance.

    Hi All,

Just an update, I went through the ATF change using the dialysis machine during this long weekend (Finally!). It was done in Exalta in N. Roxas near the corner of Banawe. All I can say that it was worth it. The shift shock (slight delay changing from P to D or from N to D from stand still that causes the jerk when going into motion) was gone except when you do it on purpose (when on N, press on the gas then change to D, a big no - no), but in normal driving conditions the shift delay and shock was gone and the car feels it has more torque.

The owner of Exalta was adamant to buy the ATF-Z1 in casa, I bought 8 bottles (and now 4.4k poorer), but only 6 were used. The best part is you can see the condition of the old and new fluid when its being drained/replaced and by the time you see the condition of the old fluid, you'll ask yourself that why didn't you do this sooner. The "dialysis" machines were relatively new (not older than 2 yrs tops) and for 600 php the service was worth it.

The only bummer was the expensive ATF-Z1, that costs 550 a bottle. Well no one lives in perfect world and who am I to complain? I just have wish that ATF-Z1 was cheaper

    Just my .02 cents. Peace.

That's fine. I used up 25 bottles of ATF to clear up the A/T of a Corona Exsior i bought before; the previous, first owner never bothered to change her ATF in the 55,000kms and 10 years she had the car (buti nalang low mileage siya).

Any other Automatic Transmission Specialist that you can recommend aside from AM Bulaong? Preferably QC area.

I have Nissan Altima, you need to drive the car to about 60KPH in D2 before it can engage to D4/D.

    Thanks.

Paps you may try Max Reyes (09172089786) or Boy (09105815076), in Banawe, marami na silang napatinong A/T from. Normally if hindi na makuha sa rebuild, they replace the whole A/T tranny using Japan Surplus tranies. Give them a call..
