it's so cheap and easy to DIY replace the pedal covers with new ones.
and, i agree with yours, my car has gone beyond 100K km, and the pedals are still decent. maybe it's because i don't have sandpaper on my soles. heh heh.
Yung 20 year old civic namin, kung titignan mo yung pedal covers (rubber), you would see that it is in pristine condition considering its a daily driver.

Kapapalit lang kasi kaya bagong bago pa. Hehe

If you noticed, cars driven by various tsupers also seem to have their steering wheels and shift knobs wear out faster too.

You can check the mechanical condition of petrol engine using a Vacuum Gauge.
(Piston Ring, Valve Seat, Head gasket, exhaust restriction etc.). OBD 2 Scantool can also be used to check the vacuum using MAP sesnor PID. Scantool can also be used to check if engine RPM at Ignition Timing is still within specs listed on the sticker usually found under the hood. Makikita mo rin mileage at # of warm-up since last reset ng pcm.

i don't think the backyard buy-and-seller will even allow those thingamajigs to be connected to the car he is selling.

Just do a vacuum test and compression test.

Walk away

Marmai kasi 2nd hand buyers na akala brand new binibili.

Yep true..i think the most reasonable you can get away with is an obd2 scanner kaso it wont tell you everything and yun nga not applicable pag crosswind. hehe

I'm about to "upgrade" to a more recent ride, Altis 2011 or thereabouts. Browsing OLX I see such models advertised as low mileage, around 20T lang daw. Isn't that absurdly low for that model year? Isa pa, mostly yung nag-advertised ng ganyan eh mukhang from buy and sell lots. Para tuloy trying to win the lottery na makakuha ka from an honest seller.
