A dedicated traffic czar may be the answer to the Edsa puzzle | Inquirer Business
Agree? Or Disagree?
I think it is part of the solution as long as he/she fits the bill and stays true to his/her job description:
A person who can make snap decisions and be man enough to take on the voodoo magic/curse that he/she will get should he/she make the wrong decisions in managing Edsa’s traffic.

Personally, i think there should be one body dedicated just to EDSA and C5; or perhaps to traffic management alone. It's worth the try. The MMDA has too many on it's "to do list" (cleanliness, flooding, etc.).

I totally agree with this,BUT,he must be given full power on the implementation of traffic laws, yun pwedeng lumaban sa malalaking tao(the untouchable),he who can hold the bull by the horn, yun pwedeng magpakulong sa mga walang disiplina sa kalsada, specially puv drivers, ala duterte, kung ayaw mong susunod sa batas, bahala ka,hehehe:mop:

I agree. The MMDA has got a lot on its plate already, and they should not lose focus on those. Traffic Management is another monster altogether.
P-Noy doing it, I don't know. He's got a lot to think of already. Although someone with pretty much that much authority is needed. Whoever's going to be the traffic boss should have the powers that can be abused, BUT also, the sensibility and self-restraint not to abuse it.

^And the guy in charge should be no-nonsense. For starters, someone who actually drives on his own in a regular sedan, every single day with no hagad or enforcers to back him up.

July 8th, 2013 04:28 PM #8the DOTC Secretary should be assigned the official label of Traffic Czar. there are a number of solutions to the traffic problem in EDSA. What is needed is the Political Clout and Will to implement these solutions. or the Executive Secretary so he will have the clout and power.

agree on having a dedicated traffic czar but for ALL streets (not just edsa and/or c5). kapag yung mga main lang kasi, magkakagulo lang yan sa mga intersections with other main roads (similar to the the numerous rules we have for color coding). let mmda handle everything else.
sana yung walang takot sa mga malalaking tao (sinuman sila) and yung mga bus companies and other PUVs. agree as well on the powers available though mahirap to kung walang mandate of the people (elections). maybe it's time we have a metro manila governor for this?
