MANILA - The Philippine National Police - Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) will now serve as the lead traffic law enforcement agency on EDSA, the busiest thoroughfare in Metro Manila.

President Benigno Aquino III on Tuesday presided over a meeting at the Palace, attended by officials of concerned government agencies and various stakeholders, tackling the worsening traffic situation in the metropolis.

After the meeting, it was agreed upon that priority action will be taken to clear six major intersections that have been identified as "choke points" along EDSA.

These are Balintawak, Cubao, Ortigas, Shaw Boulevard, Guadalupe, and Taft Avenue.

The President also approved the deployment of the PNP-HPG to serve as the lead traffic law enforcement agency on EDSA, with the support of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Land Transportation Office (LTO), and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

Also among the immediate action steps agreed were stricter enforcement of the bus lanes, clearing of obstructions on EDSA and alternate routes, and continuing consultations with public utility operators, truckers and port users and other stakeholders.

And his all phrase kay Abaya at Tole.

British firm tapped to ease air traffic at Naia | Inquirer Business

Works both ways. The HPG may be able to enforce the rules of the road more effectively (As we all hope)... or they will just ask for larger kotong from the buses/jeeps/UVex so they can continue to play roadblock. Hopefully we get the former over the latter.

PH has 5th worst traffic in the world—survey | Inquirer News

Another world record achievement for Abnoy's Tuwid na Daan he should be proud of on top of the MRT mess. :cheer2::clap:

And after 5 years in office all he can say is .....
Malacañang, meanwhile, has asked the commuting public for more patience as President Benigno Aquino III tapped the Philippine National Police’s Highway Patrol Group to lead traffic law enforcement in Edsa, Metro Manila’s busiest thoroughfare

Sana icheck din nila yung number of buses travelling per route.
South bound lang tong naobserve ko not sure for north bound.

Dapat i improve pa ng gobyerno ang railway system sa atin north to south bound and within the metro. Then wag na i allow na pumasok sa metro ang mga buses, para mawala na mga terminal along edsa. Pwede sila gumawa ng railway system from BGC to north and south by interconnecting to PNR existing railway in Taguig area.

you mean provincial buses? i remember yung panahon ni GMA may planong hanggang sa may bandang Trinoma (can't remember the exact location) na lang ang destination ng provincial buses then passengers take city buses sa point of destination. any idea what happened to that proposal? if not mistaken majority of provincial bus terminals are located in edsa
