Fortuner has bigger body than compact SUV so it's only reasonable na mas malakas fuel consumption nito.
in fact when it comes to gasoline-powered large vehicles like mid-SUVs, wala din pinagkaiba sa American cars ang Jap cars. and to think ang mentality ng pinoy eh lakas lumaklak ng gas ang mga American gas guzzlers daw.
it's physics na. Gasoline-powered Toyota cars are no excuse. even the famous Pajero Fieldmaster ganyan din. yun used gas fieldmaster P400k to P500k bentahan as compared to their diesel counterparts with high resale value.
kung tuusin nga mas fuel-efficient pa American Cars, imagine having the same fuel consumption between a 3.0 4WD V6 American engine and a 2.7vvti 4x2 Jap engine.Last edited by oldblue; June 11th, 2006 at 06:34 AM.

Balbalasang National Park (at the Abra-Kalinga border).
The Fortuner's got good angles, below :
Friends Fortuner is still on stock suspension. Had to cut the inner portion of the front bumper
or else the front tires (Dueller M/Ts 265x75R16) would rub.

June 13th, 2006 11:11 AM #2640Fortuner in Action (Part 3 continuation)
On the Pasil-to-Bontoc Road (Kalinga)
Fortuner's trail spotter/off-road navigator doing his job:
Aside from guiding vehicle on tight roads, trail spotters other job is to pin-point exact location
of vehicle using a handheld GPS on a Namria topographic map so we can anticipate the slope
of the road/trail up ahead.
What ravine/cliff?
The slope on this ravine is still around 60~70-degrees. If you do the Timbac trail
from the Kabayan Road to the Halsema, the cliff trail has a vertical slope (90-degrees)
dropping some 800-ft. (when you stick you head out of the window and look down,
you might pee in your pants, that scary-true test of nerves).
We're not hard-core off-roaders per se, what we love is the adventure.
Off-roading is just a skill to get us places and the Fortuner is just a tool.
*boss Otep, Phil's going to ditch his Frontier and his new hi-lux is ready.
It's already got full OME nitrocharger suspension, ARB rear diff. locker,
ARB front bumper (to eliminate any form of rubbing) and skid plates to the max.
He's selling his stock hi-lux suspension., stock bumper with foglamps,
stock side stepboards, all still brand new and all at a bargain give-away
price (he just wants to get rid of them, PM me if any of you guys are
interested). BTW, I'm Phil's trail spotter.
The assumption that the vehicle runs on the road, the ECU is more than likely a match. Try cleaning...
