    You liked that? Thanks!

Here's a couple more sketches of what I personally believe is the better design as it provides better sealing. Exception here is when the flap seals (usually of foam material) wears out or disintegrate. But that will take years and something that can be fixed.

Most other vehicles employs this design or a variation of it.

Definetely not, doc. Mas malaki ng di hamak side mirrors ng innova. Hehe

Just for comparison lang naman. Usually di nagkakalayo presyo sa mga surplus.

i think i will tend to agree to your observation. minsan lang magamit unit ko pero when i remove the cabin filter, minsan may mga dry leaves pa akong nakikita.

question: is there a way we can fix this? diy?

Wasn't able to retrieve the side mirror since I was in a highway, and I guess unusable na rin yun if ever.
Saw a post sa innova club. Driver side mirror assembly taiwan replacement 700 daw

No beating around the bush on this issue. There's too much work involved to modify the flap so I had to cut the airflow from the source by sealing the inlet vent under the wiper cowl with aluminum tape. Duct tape would also work, if not better. I never use this vent anyway. If I want fresh air, I'll just crack open a window or two. It's a mild annoyance compared to not fixing it and smelling exhaust and garbage fumes everytime I'm driving.

The thing with exhaust fumes is that it gets onto anything in the cabin.... the upholstery, the side panels, the roof liner, A/C vents... everything. For that matter, the odor stays for days even if you haven't used the car. Whenever I get into my car in the morning, I can smell the exhaust fumes from last night's commute still lingering. I'm fussy about this because I know it should not happen.

It's been about 2 weeks ago since I've taped it up and there's no more fumes getting in! My next project is to do something similar with the rear A/C. Some exhaust fumes are still being sucked in from the rear despite my efforts to plug every external hole. Though, the leakage here is not as significant as the front A/C used to be.

Allowing too much outside air to enter will also cause you A/C evaporator core (front and rear) to clog up with dirt and soot early in its life. Cutting down on outside air will definitely extend the life as well as reduce the maintenance frequency of these components.
