Anyway, you're not going to die of CO if there's no outside exhaust gases coming in. Pwede pa CO2 intoxication. But that will mean you'll have to be in there for a long time.
that bulkhead in front of the front passenger and driver, has holes connecting the engine bay to the passenger cabin, where the control cables, tubes, and steering column pass thru. it's supposed to be sealed, but, you know... wear and tear and all that.
how effective or in-effective are these seals? in the past, there were several deaths believed to be from carbon monoxide poisoning, in parked, idling cars.

I'm referring to the flap/vent design for routing in outside air. The problem with this vehicle platform is that the flap leaks a lot more outside air than most other vehicles. So just to put a number on it, let's say a typical car would only leak 5% outside air and 95% is recirculated cabin air. On the Innova, it's more like 20-30% outside air and the rest is recirculated air. Coming from driving a sedan for 7 years and driving the Innova, the result is very noticeable.

To illustrate (this took me a while to draw so bear with me), here are rough cross-sectional drawings of a part of the Innova's A/C. When the mode switch is set to Outside Air, a flap (blue part in the drawing) moves up to open up the outside air vent and at the same time, blocks the cabin air from recirculating. In this mode, the A/C is pulling in practically 100% outside air.

When you set it to Recirculate, the flap moves forward to block outside air and allow cabin air to flow. As you can see in the design, the tolerance between the flap and the outside air vent is too big and as a result, a significant amount of outside air is still getting in.... much, much higher than typical.

So this is the reason why the aircon filter is very dirty even after just 1 change oil which i don't expect when using recirculate mode.

Kahit pala 10 years na kami may Innova, I/We do really learn something new everyday.. Thanks for sharing!

    Exactly.

My old Civic could go a year and the cabin filter will only exhibit a grayish discoloration. But on my Innova, just using it for 4-6 months and a portion of the filter would already be black with soot.

    It's that bad.

Hi guys need your help. Can anyone recommend a fairly affordable parts shop that sells Innova side mirrors as well as an affordable repair shop to install said side mirror? Got into a nasty incident wherein my Innova's side mirror (including the part that connects it to the pillar) was completely sideswiped, meaning wala na siya completely. Wasn't able to retrieve the side mirror since I was in a highway, and I guess unusable na rin yun if ever.

    try the online sellers, po.
just now, there's someone in olx, advertising his innova side mirror.

then there's the cathay centers in banawe and evangelista, where glib-of-mouth is the weapon of choice.

    good luck, po.
