thanks pare. big help yung suggestion mo. target ko 1s 215/50/r17.

On the contrary, 214/50/r17 will be the exact conversion. Because in 215 if you're running at 60 mi/hr in your odo, you are actually running at 60.1 mi/hr. Although, yokohama's available tires is 215. That is the closest that you can have for your innova.

HELLOOOO!!! mga Bro, ano ba ang final venue ng EB natin. Seemed kaunti lang ang interested sa Clark. Palagay ko malabo na naman ito, he-he-he. Lahat BZ yata. Kung Baywalk area naman, someone near the place has to finalize it.

    2,500rpm - ???
    3,000rpm - ???
    2K rpm = 75kph est
    2,500rpm = 95kph
    3K rpm = 105kph

The 3K rpm di pa exact, kasi I ran out of open space, so only had the chance to stay at that rpm/speed for maybe 1-2 secs. Will try to check. This was 5th gear, with two passengers, and dual aircon on. Long ago, was able to hit 140kph at around 3,800rpm. I think the d4d can do up to 110kph with ease, after that, the engine strain versus additional speed is noticeable.

    altec, thanks for the input.

Our figures for M/T D4D Innova are pretty much the same. I also checked this with drin off-thread - same figures. When I hit 100kph - I'm already at whereabouts of 2,700 rpm.

The funny thing is that our Innova's 2.5 D4Ds have a useable max. torque band that starts pretty low :
    M/T 200Nm at 1,400 ~ 3,200 rpm
    A/T 260Nm at 1,600 ~ 2,400 rpm

The trannys of our Innovas were geared for utility use: hauling and moving heavy loads - and this is very evident on speed and rpm relationship as we observe in the figures above.

Since you were able to hit 140 kph at around 3,800 rpm - It would be nice to hit a desired top speed of say 140kph (or even 160 kph) and still be within our engines max. torque band coz beyond 3,200rpm (M/T) our torque starts to taper off and drop.

The most logical thing to do in this situation would be to re-gear our transmission's 4th & 5th gear - but this would be very messy.

Since I don't use my Innova for hauling (7-passengers+some cargo) but just for moving my family (4~5 pax max) on vacations, do you think it would be advisable to re-gear our rear differential (ring and pinion kit).

There's no info. on our owners manual on our tranny's gear ratios and on the rear diff. gear ratio. But on the net, you'll get this info from the Toyota thai, aussie, india sites where they have the 2.5 D4D (2KD-FTV) for the hi-lux and hi-ace:

Rear Differential Gear Ratio M/T is 3.583 (since this is same IMV class, could our Innovas be the same?)

By doing this, I will be putting less engine strain on my D4D and be more fuel efficient (as long as I stay within the max. torque band) since I don't get my Innova over loaded anyway. I want to hit 140 kph at 3,000 rpm only (or if possible at an even lower rpm).

Any inputs will be most appreciated.

(altec, with your fleet of trucks, I'm sure you guys have re-geared some of them already, just buy a fully-matched ring & pinion kit for the rear diff.).

    Guys, question lang po...

is it okay to hear three (3) clicks when you put on the aircon?

I assume this is coming from the clutch compressor...

I hear this when I start the car in the morning...

i was informed by toyota that after i past 1000odo, i can drive and exceed the 100kmh. which i did. i only test to reach 130kmh when my odo reads around 2600++ na. just a few days ago i test drive a toyota cotrolla altis. i reached 170kmh. i engine can still reach 200kmh if i like to, but i just want to compare the two. i think in innova gas there is no vibration or hinde hirap yung engine even past 140kmh. but incase of diesel engine.. hay nakoh... dissapointed ka.

I have a vvti engine and I can drive at 140 km/h smoothly. An extra noise is normal at this speed because of the air that passed your car and the engine's extra power.
