Here's our family's "ol' reliable" (3.0 D4D) since April 2005 and has since been fitted with upgrades to enhance its capabilities. Because it was primarily used as a farm vehicle(hauling feeds and other equipment), its odometer still reads just over 47k kilometers (and its casa-maintained, too).
Upgrades it had over the years: roll bar, roller lid, front bumper nudge guard, 2-inch suspension lift, HID head lamps, mud tires (31x10.50R15), snorkel and -10 offset wheels to replace the stock. We could've gone loading it with more upgrades but my old man still wanted to retain some of the "stock look" just like what it used to be back in 2005. In other words, pwedeng i-update, wag lang ganong "drastic" lol.
Our next plan is to have its front grill replaced and install some roof fog lamps.
Hope you can show a photo of your new Hilux...and congratulations for getting one!![]()
Any feedback on the cranky transmission issue of the all new hilux revo? we have the 4x2 G AT variant and it is noisy down under when we sometimes change gears or when we maneuver the steering wheel while it's on Reverse however once it's upto speed it is silent even when moving bumper to bumper traffic.
Salamat po sa pag accept. Soon to own a 2002 Hilux. Excited na pa ako !
Cranky transmission is due to an indifference in the ECU configuration setting and needs to be software reprogrammed under Toyota Warranty until then it's only a noise inconvenience compared to the silent Engine. I'm having mine to be scheduled for the software operation.
Australian forums.
Over 20k hilux are sold this year alone in Au. Its amazing... hence their forums are filles with posts. Havent had the time to read all of them yet.

Good day fellow Hilux owners and tsikoteers! My car is a 2008 Toyota Hilux G 4x4 M/T. This is the 1KD-FTV 3.0L diesel engine with turbo intercooler.
To my fellow Hilux owners, have you experienced such kind of problem in the starter when you crank the engine? They say, it's the Bendix Drive. My car has 208,000+ kilometers logged on it. I will paste here the youtube link of the video I shot regarding the "Starter grinding noise" of my Hilux.
Please let me know if you are experiencing such issue or have experienced one before and what is the real diagnostic to it and how did you able to fix it? Thanks fellow tsikoteers! I would love to hear your opinion! Salamat!
Here's the link from youtube:
Toyota Hilux 1KD-FTV grinding noise when cranking - YouTube
This is the picture of my bendix drive. The encircled part is what we thought the damage, it's like a trimmed part on the shaft, due to wear and tear probably. Which causes the grease to get inside and makes the drive to just slip and not be able to fully extend the pinion gear towards the flex plate thus making the very loud and very nasty metal to metal grinding noise. Anyway, if you can see the pinion gear, it doesn't have any shims on it contrary to what I saw in other youtube videos that the pinion gear develops shims because it just grinds with the flex plate. Mine have none.
Anyway, I would love to hear your opinion about this. Thanks! Much appreciated fellow tsikoteers! Have a nice day!
