Bros I need help. The 2.5l D4D of my hilux is dying. Mechanic said that it needs an overhaul or an engine swap. The mechanic said I over revved it and the engine just knocked. Hindi niya kinaya yung bitukang manok sa Quezon with 6 people in it.
I need to ask if you could help me find a surplus or 2nd hand 3.0l D4D engine. Will it be a simple swap? I plan on using the 2.5l's manual transmission and how much is the engine gonna cost. Please help. Thanks

halos lahat naman ng pickup matagtag.. performance ok naman matulin considering na its only 102hp
thanks sir kevin...
my budget only permit me to buy 4x2
besides 3liter engines are only availble sa 4x4
and a friend of mine who happens to own one eh sabi di ko daw magagamit or hindi practical ang 4x4, once a month lang daw nya nagagamit pag namumundok sya...
nope hilux talaga ang 1st choice ko,but I happen to own a innova V
my brother had a fortuner, so pag hilux isa na lang kumpleto na IMV collection hahahahaha... so this is the reason why I shop around then nakit ko nga ang magandang review ng navara...
I also look at dmax(reliable engine) and strada(nice ride, good HP) magaganda sila matataas, kaso bitin ako sa bed.. so dumating ako sa navara at magaganda ang review nya, hindi lang dito pati abroad, I even joined the NCP forum... mababait silang lahat, very informative mga hirit nila...
so nag trim daw sa dalawang choices kasi halos magkasinglaki ng bed ang hilux and navara... dun ako nag research ng konti...
so at the end of the day, iisipin mo yung reliability, yung ground clearance(kasi bahain lugar namin), saka yung good resale value...
I usually drive it more than 100kph whenever roads permit it. As for carrying strength I usually load it with 500 kilos of rice (10 sacks) and the back goes down about 3 inches. I have driven my hilux in flood water almost reaching the hood and it didn't die on me.
after 5 years of use and abuse(including the usual burnout, carrying 15 sacks of rice max, getting involved in 2 accidents[damage was purely cosmetic], drifting, 111 thousand kilometres on the odometer) the only serious issue was because of motor oil wherein i have to overhaul the hilux engine. If you can please use semi-synthetic, synthetic or CRDi motor oil.
now people are talking here... mabuhay po ang thread na ito ahehehe...
salamat din sir ThePatriarch... nasa me ari din talga ikakaganda ng ride nila, segun sa gamit at pangangailangan... at syempre sa paniniwala.. to each his own ika nga...
im sched to buy a truck 1st week ng arpil? after the holy week...![]()
ok saludo ako sa patotoo ni mang juan..patunay na matibay din ang hilux..my pick up is only 2 months old and it's nice to read a nice review from a reliable 5yr old pick up..
medyo malungkot nga lang sa hilux thread..
The hilux is a very capable truck indeed. Sana nga lang kasing lakas siya ng foreign versions niya pero I still love it.
