The old hilux LN106 is my longtime crush so getting it is a dream come true. My previous ride, the strada, had it's merits and served me well, but I had to let it go.

Any pick-up, even if it's 4x2 with low stance, can surely go to where I was able to go. Maybe, the only difference is I didn't experience any fear. I even suggested to them that we go to areas that are waist deep, but, they said that majority of the victims were already on higher grounds.

Anyway, thanks for the compliment, Noobskie.

I saw a new Hilux "E" being used by a construction company as its service vehicle.

I find it really confounding how Toyota dares to sell something as "bare" as the "E" when one can get the same stance, features (or more), and better engine from Mitsubishi Strada GL at a much affordable cost. (Php 860K vs Php 1.075M or 910K). Despite that, lots of people still go for the Hilux, even the gov't. That's the power of the brand

ung J kasi walang power windows.. walang foglamps.. hindi chrome ang side mirrors.. grills.. door handles.. etc.. tapos walang rear bumper.. ung h.u ata cassete pa.. unlike ung E power windows may rear bumper..etc..

The supposed rear bumper is made of plastic anyway. I have seen quite a few Hilux J owners buying aftermarket rear bumpers for their rides. Its no biggie. Funny, how those chrome bits are also standard on the Hilux FX cab, but not on the "J".

That's my point. Toyota adds a few chrome bits here and there, other minor features, and they overcharge customers. The competition like Mitsubishi can offer something similar to the "E" variant at a more affordable price.

I think the Hilux has driver's airbag (I dont know if they removed it on the new one). The Strada GL has no airbag.

It took me almost 6 months before deciding on what pickup to get. I am happy I made the right choice.

The new "E" variant is better now bec. it almost looks like a "G".

How much does new "E" really cost? TMPI website is inconsistent. In one page it says Php 1.075M and in the other, it says Php 910K.

The gray interior is fine because at least if gets soiled, it wouldn't be very evident as compared to if it were beige.

AFAIK, the old "E" did not come with any factory fender flares. This is an easy upgrade if one wants to add it to their "E".

The mags on the old "E" looked better compared to the pre-facelift innova sourced mags, but if I'm not mistaken, it is still 5 lug screws compared to the 6 lug screws on the G and new "E".
