Hindi kaya mai-pasok bigla sa CASA ang A/T mo at baka masira ang A/T transmission kapag palagi ginagawa ang from Nuetral --> Drive while in motion....Hehehehe

sir can you explain why turning in neutral while moving is bad practice? ganun po kc practice ko eh para matipid sa gas... ok lang daw un sabi ng friend ko mekaniko...

Good eve. po!

I searched about this setting to N with A/T and came across several articles and forums~ based on what I've read it is NOT advisable to set to N while the car is in motion.

Here's a brief explanation I got from the Auto.

"Q. Does one keep the auto gear engaged while waiting for the traffic light to change to green or shift it to neutral?
A. The gear should remain at D position. Changing gear frequently from D to N and back will cause more wear to the valves and clutch plates.
Q. Is it true that it is not advisable to "free"the gear at N and let the vehicle roll slowly when approaching a traffic light?
A. It is not advisable to shift to N while on the move as this may damage the internal parts of the device. When engaged at N, deceleration will allow the output shaft to overrun the hydraulic clutches and the gear trains of the gearbox. All hydraulic clutches at this gear will be at a disengaged position. The driving and driven plates will be separated slightly as they rub against one another, causing premature wear and tear. At D position, the governor or speeds sensor in the Electronic Control Transmission is still in operation. There will then be an automatic downshift, also known as coast downshift, to give better control of the vehicle and engine braking.
Q. Can one shift the gear up and down when the vehicle is in motion?
A. You can shift gears according to the road condition. For normal in-town and highway driving, use D4. The car will start with first gear and shift automatically to second, third and fourth. Use D3 when driving in heavy traffic. Use D2 for increase engine brake when driving down hill or for increase engine power when driving up hill. Use the first gear to provide maximum engine braking effect or when driving down a steep gradient. For more details, refer to your vehicle owner's manual.
Q. How do you use the Overdrive (OD) button? If the button is pressed, the "OD Off" sign lights up. Does this mean that there is no OD or vice versa? What is the use of OD?
A. Overdrives are usually set to function at speeds above 60 km/h to reduce engine Revolution Per Minute under lighter operating conditions. Pressing the button will de-select the overdrive mode, thus the OD sign lights up. The OD function is equivalent to the fifth gear in a manual gearbox, which is used for long distance cruising for the benefit of fuel economy as well as minimising engine wear and tear. For example, you may de-select OD when going uphill to give more torque and engine braking."

sir, does this procedure also apply when you are descending sa mga bridges? i meant set the gear to neutral para hindi mahirapan ang preno?

so far smooth na naman yung braking ... no more sudden stops ... except pag may mga pasaway na bigla bigla na lang nagcu-cut. TIA
Dami kumontra sa pag-neutral ko, ah. Hehehe... It only takes a split second... Of course I make sure that the coast is clear bago mag-neutral.

And re: the link you posted, sabi nga nila, DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ, lalo na sa web.

Sabi ko nga kay levanz nun, I prefer to believe the manual, which says, kahit akyatan, di ka dapat naka-2 or L, dapat D pa rin. And this contradicts one of the entries in the link you posted.

In technology years, that's already decades old. Hehehe...

Anyway, I'll be reading up more on how the transmission works, just to confirm what the old schoolers are advising...

Thanks for the inputs, guys...

I agree...

Dont worry yung Avanza A/T hindi CVT, FYI.

Sa M/T I usually shift to neutral when approaching a true stop traffic to save gas, sa patag lang pag pababa hindi, practice ko na yun eversince I was 16 years old. 10 years na kasi ako nagdadrive e.
O, may magpoprotesta ba? Sabihin nyo lang. Kundi

Yeah! We will not "fight" as long as we respect each other's opinion... we should all AGREE TO DISAGREE at times, right, folks?

What I did is I removed 1 bolt from the existing to use it as sample then bought to nearest auto supply and installed. Installation was so easy.

Hehehe... Thanks.
