Depende parin talaga sa dealership yan.

May mga dealership na matino naman. While meron talagang may red flag.

If ganyan man, mas maganda nang iwasan nalang yung specific dealership na yan.

Habang stable kasi yung count, wala naman sila paki-alam Business is business, it's all about the money. Hehe

    3. fan belt/belt conditioner. another duh! if it does not squeek then you don't need it. if it does then buy a can and do it yourself.
    4. fluid top ups. don't tell me you don't know how.
    5. those supposedly 30 or 40 point checks they do and charge you Pxxxx for. check that windshield wiper yourself and maybe you will learn something.

as for leaving you car at the casa or any repair shop, ALWAYS MAKE SURE THEY KNOW THAT YOU NOTED DOWN THE ODO READING. if they see you do this then they will never take your car out for a joy ride. as for test drives that should be no more than 2 or 3 km. or tell them that you would like to be present during the test drive.
Bro for sure maraming car owners na hindi marunong niyan kaya full trust sa casa.

Thinking about it, if my girlfriend had her own car, I wouldn't expect her to know that brake cleaning is an unnecessary expense, nor will I expect her to know how to DIY. Same thing with fluid top-ups. I'm sure there are more people like her than car enthusiasts like us.

Consumer insight from my petroleum days: majority of new car owners find car servicing stressful, and put a premium on ease and convenience of service. This is why shops that have nice lounges, all-in-one services, and all other convenient offerings are the ones making a killing.

These are people who view cars as tools/appliances that unfortunately need periodic maintenance.

I'm not sure about Toyota Fairview being Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP)...

As far as I know, only Toyota Makati and Toyota Bicutan are TMP-owned dealerships/franchises. Can anyone confirm?

I would never ever again let any dealership include car wash on PMS... after watching them wipe dry my car (because they finished soaping and rinsing daw)... but i could still see the leftover water/mud streaks that were not cleaned by my wiper blades. Talk about real professional cleaning.

The internet loves to hate on dealerships, but I've seen firsthand local talyers that screw up your car as well and don't even know what they're doing.

One talyer we used to go to wrecked a relative's Mercedes.

Drove it at up to 140 km/h INSIDE the Manila area. Understeered into a wall. Moron. Lucky to be alive.

Suffice to say, nobody in the family goes there, anymore.

I recall someone here suggesting, years ago, that you put a telltale mark (paint, marker, whatever) on important parts inside the engine bay and underneath.

    Still a good idea.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Same here. In my most recent PMS, my car was really dirty (rained the day before). I specifically told them not to do the car wash, but they still insisted. I just told them that I do my own washing as a polite way of saying hell nah.

My bad bro, misread that bit. Seems my morning coffee isn't strong today.

The good thing with dealerships is IF you can prove something went wrong, may habol ka. Because they have a reputation to protect and the money for that purpose. Smaller reputable shops can and will probably correct the problem as well, but it might not be to your satisfaction.

To deter what happened in the past I use a cheap engraving pen to personalize our parts. I use this on our oil, fuel filters and big ticket items like compressor, alternator, fuel pump, PS pump, etc. Still not sure if I can do this on the injectors though.

Was able to talk to a few senior mechanics at a dealership a long time ago. They were complaining of how they got old already but their wages haven't really gone up much in their decades of service. Between how much they charge for service and how little gets to the staff, I understand their predicament. Doesn't make switching parts right, but I can understand why some of them feel they need to do it.

nail polish is better. ang paint madaling humanap ng same color, nail polish they need to find the exact match especially yung may glitters. just prep the bolt and area with acetone para kumapit. suggested places to mark are cylinder head cover bolts (remove the plastic cover syempre), aircon compressor and alternator mounting bolts, battery connections, hoses to the power steering pump and ac compressor, and anything that is easily swapped. put the mark as a straight line on top and side of the bolt to the area next to it. pag nabasag yung nail polish ibig sabihin ginalaw yung bolt na yun.

Toyota Fairview may not be a franchise of Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP).

But still, it's very bad publicity for Toyota here in the Philippines...
