i think Toyota or a 3rd party should do an investigation on what caused the spark that led the car to flames.i'm eager to wait for the results.
It would've been clearer if you've quoted and replied to the post you're referring to.
I know you are better than that that's why I said "don't be".
The peace smiley, after all you've stated after quoting my reply, looked like an insult.
Anyway, I don't want to waste my time and yours by prolonging this any further. I will move on and forget about this - hopefully, you too.
.
Yes of course, Toyota should be held responsible and be made to do preventive repairs for free if necessary (after a thorough third party investigation).
Toyota's decades long of good reputation is serving them well at present that's why I guess people dismiss their shortcomings. Same with other popular brands.
As for the Avanza owners, may I suggest that you equip your vehicles with a small fire extinguisher (usually about 800 bucks) for your safety.

Re: Toyota Qualitythat's so scary thinking it's a toyota --- the #1 car maker in the world.
what do you think happened to their quality?
I have read a foreign review where they bash the Innova....contending that the vehicle is not worthy to wear the T badge.
Anyway, parang pinalabas nila that Toyota does not apply its famed workmanship on vehicles across the globe and seems to lax a bit in vehicles marketed to consumers in the developing countries.
If I may discerned, the Avanza, Innova, and Fortuner operate as cheaper 3rd World alternatives to mainstream Hiace, Previa, and 4Runners lineups.
Yes, there are vehicles that still showcase Toyota's 'build quality" that make converts out of millions around the world. Just don't get impressed "that since its a Toyota it must be good" slogan.
<< this is what I understood too. as for that registering just to reply to that post thingie, [and at an unholy hour] I'll just shrug that off... I ain't judging whoever said that just by the statement alone, and I happen to think this place is great and worth a membership.
Oh, and I own a red Avanza.
Fire extinguishers should be standard items in our vehicles....
Could it be that there was an electrical modification that was done on this particular vehicle?

Honestly I must differ my opinion from your's in regards to the build quality of the Toyota Avanza. I have driven the Avanza, specifically the one provided to the media to test drive during the year it was launched in the local market. Frankly I was dismayed by the low build quality I have seen inside the Avanza. Even for an AUV class vehicle, I was expecting better fit and finish from Toyota for this vehicle.
The vehicle's handling didn't impress me either. This vehicle's dynamics simply didn't feel right and actually felt unstable at speeds over 80kph. At the standard left/right corner where I drive through at 110 to 120kph with nearly any other vehicle (AUV/SUV class) I test drove that day, the Avanza was the only one I had to slow down below 90kph before hitting that curve.
I don't actually agree that the handling dynamic is outright dangerous (though usually GH and I see eye-to-eye on these things when we test-drive together), but the Avanza is quite tippy in the way it handles.
The interior quality, too, even on the 1.5 variant, leaves quite a bit to be desired. Certainly not that bad, when viewed against other AUVs, but compared to the spectacular Innova, the rattles, squeaks and plastics aren't very convincing... especially when the price difference between the 1.5 Avanza and the 2.0 VVTi Innova really isn't that big.
The Avanza's gasoline engine, however, for one reason or another, sounds and runs much better than the Innova's 2.0. The 1.3 could use a little more torque for mountain climbing.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
I heard from news last night that another vehicle caught fire at slex (also).
I did not get the vehicle type but it is not avanza.
Driver said he saw smoke from the dashboard, pulled over the vehicle and got out.
I hope the reporters should ask next time the driver if the vehicle underwent electrical modifications that may have caused the fire. And what shop or area was it made.
