All New 2013 Toyota Vios (3rd Gen)

Interesting, I thought it was just an isolated case. Anyway, I've gotten used to the flickering so it's not much of an issue. I'll probably have it checked out during PMS.

I haven't noticed anything odd with the suspension, except yesterday when I had to drive through a flooded part of Mandaluyong circle. After crossing the flood, the front would make an odd noise every time I go over a hump. I thought I ripped off a part of the car's underside that was rubbing with my front shocks but when I checked, it was fine.

Then, when I drove the car again a few hours after, it was back to normal. Haven't noticed any change in its handling or ride comfort so far. Are there any prevalent issues with the car's suspension?

meron ngang ganyan din ang sa akin. usually pag inclined ang road parang may tumutunog sa suspension nya na parang masisira pero di ko na lang din pinapansin he he he

Yup, there are issues and admitted ni Toyota yun. Sa lower arms and issues, manipis daw masyado yung rubber sa stock. In my case, already subject for recall and scheduled na for replacement both lower arms and ball joints. I'm just waiting for the parts to arrive.

haven't heard/read abt vios knocking sensor yet but you don't need a sensor detect a knocking. You just simply hear a "roleta" sound at low gears. And again that's only with petron.

Same experience tayo with petron xcs re: knocking. Curious lang ako why still may pinging/knocking if already w/ sensor.

There's a limit to how fast the ECU can pull timing when it detects knock, and a limit to how much timing can be pulled. If you hear knock, I suggest changing gasolines right away... or, if you still have a lot, cutting what's in the tank with octane booster and/or high-octane fuel like Blaze. Don't let it continue like that.

so what will the signal / indication be, when something does go wrong with the alarm or the oil pressure?
do we assume that the indicator light will stop flickering and instead put a out a steady bright light?
do we know with confidence, that it can send out such alarm indication?
or will it keep sending out the familiar flickering and nothing more, because it is faulty?

and is this flickering, seen everywhere where the vios / yaris are sold, or is this unique to the philippine market?
just what does the owner's manual say?

I'm actually surprised they're replacing ECUs for it. My take is that it seems like either poor batteries in the keyfob, or, if it's a passive chip that the car "pings" with a transmitter, possibly a weak sensor in the steering column.

Or, considering it's intermittent... probably a little of both, and/or the ECU's refresh rate on how often it tries to find the key is too fast... which would mean a reflash, but not replacing the entire module! (unless it can't be reflashed, of course... then it would make sense).

Still... no effect... no worries. I mean, it's less worrying than the smoking airbag on my Taiwan-made Exalta before. (puff of faint smoke every three to six months... maddening!)

mga sirs patulong naman. ano kaya problema nung sasakyan ko. mga 1 week ko hindi ginamit tapos whole day ko ginamit tapos park ng 2 days ulit. tapos kahapon pati ngayon pag nagfufull stop ako tapos bukas ng pinto may burning rubber smell siya na pumapasok sa sasakyan. kahapon di ko masyado pinansin. pero ngayon chineck ko talaga kasi meron pa din and kung sa rubber galing pero hindi pala. sa engine bay ata kasi nung binuksan ko ang hood parang dun nga nanggagaling ang amoy. hindi ako sigurado pero parang sa may left side ata ng engine bay kasi sa passenger front door pumapasok ang amoy pag bukas. ano kaya problema nito? mga 20-40kph lang takbo ko and mga 10-20kms lang ang distance. wala kasi akong alam baka biglang overheat o ano. 1.3 e/at unit ko bought nov2013. TIA po.

The whitish plastic is where the rear seats lower portion locks on. You need to tug/pull at this area. Notice also the seat back bolted at the lower region.

once na natanggal na yung upuan, yung sandalan ba tatanggalin by unscrewing the three bolts?

All my cars knock when using petron. Whats with petron considering RON rating is same with caltex and shell?

... doesn't sound like engine knock.. can it possibly be too large a valve lash?
engine knock sounds like a marble falling into a metal can, or onto the kulahang galbanisado or GI roof..

seems a normal engine sound for me. fuel knock happens when the car is running during low gears at low rpm usually when u shift to 2nd gear from 1st gear and when you step on the gas pedal while the rpm is low. knocking or the roleta sound is only noticed when you step on the gas pedal. and I think a driver with less driving experience won't notice it.
It's a different problem when you hear knocking while idling.

95 octane fuel gamit ko. Total Excellium.
Wala namang pinagbago sa hatak yan lang problema ko, kind of noisy ang engine compared sa Toyota Revo na gas namin dati na halos di mo rinig andar ng makina pag idle.

I use 91 ron (fuel save and silver) and all of my vehicles runs very well on caltex and shell. 91 ron from petron knocks the engine.

Hey guys, maayung hapon. My Silver is turning a month old this 15th. Just wanna say thank you for this forum for helping come up with a well informed decision for my 1st brand new car choice. Just have one concern though which i know had been discussed already on this forum but i just forgot what page was that. About the "knocking sound on the dashboard", how was that resolved?
