The current is a proven RWD nonCVT workhorse.

has anyone come up with computations that show that going hybrid saves them money in the long run?

and as travs says, the older model is a proven workhorse.

I did one for our personal use. 300K difference (Corolla Cross vs Innova G) we will need 7 years to break even (maintenance not included)

Comparisons with owning a Hybrid Vehicle (a real one, not like Okavango and Ertiga) vs a gas powered one should not only take into account a car to car cost at the present time.

Remember, if you own a true Hybrid that can run even a few kms on electric power, you will have coding exemption meaning you don't really need a "coding" car to own, insure, and maintain, at least for the 7 years the exemption is in effect by law (or 8, depending on how they count it).

At present, owning such a hybrid vehicle (non plugin type), the low side increase in FC is 50% (factor of 1.5x improvement) to 100% (2x) depending on what you are comparing it against and if strictly city driving only.

I think the benefit is tangible enough because the carguide formula does not account for cost related to buying/owning & maintaining a "coding" car, since that came out a few months before EVIDA law IRR came into effect.

EDIT: With the Coralla Cross Hybrid at around 1.7m php range, I can't see Toyota PH Pricing the Innova Hybrid (or Zenix) any less than 2m php. If they price it too close to the cross, it will eat up any possible sales of the Cross Hybrid and most probably end up killing the product line locally. they will most probably position it between the Cross Hybrid and Rav4 Hybrid to cover the price gap between the 2 models.

i am still waiting for the official list of EV and hybrid car models, before i consider taking the plunge.

I'm not going to touch EVs until they go mainstream. Typical rich Filipino wants an EV to make a statement. It will just be another vehicle parked on the streets logging distance traveled per year like 3k

Next-gen Toyota Innova could be launched in PH this month with gas, hybrid options - Top Gear PH

It’s not just that bit that we’ve learned about. We were also told that our market is set to get both gasoline and hybrid powertrains with the next-gen model. In addition, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is expected to sell the top-spec Innova as the Zenix, similar to how the range-topping Avanza is sold as the Veloz here.

As for the old diesel engine? Your guess is still as good as ours on what Toyota plans to do with that, but it wouldn’t come as a surprise if TMP decides to keep selling that version the same way it’s still offering the previous-gen Hiace here.
