2014 Toyota Fortuner Stripped Down Version

Got an approved loan from bank and PO has been sent to the dealership, unfortunately the unit I've reserved has been given to a different client before the PO was sent. Been waiting for a week now and still no unit available. 4x2 AT G Black

The dealership gave a 40K discount plus additional 10K promo discount, siguro yung isang client hindi nanghingi ng unit discount or in-house financing kaya mas na-prioritize nung dealership/SA.

Pag within this week ay wala parin, then shift ako into Trailblazer 4x2 or Montero 4x2.

Nagkakaubos ang fortuner 4x2 G AT variant ngayon due to high demand or just a shortage of supply? Dito ba sa pinas ina-assemble and Fortuner? or it is shipped here from other assembly plan located in other country?

sir.. kung ako nasa sitwasyon mo.. i would rather wait for the unit.. hindi ako magmamadali.. subok na ng panahon ang toyota.. pero kung talagang di ka na makapag antay.. i would pick the trailblazer over montero kse napakaraming problema ng montero.. andyan yung sobrang usok unless i blank ang egr which will void the warranty.. kelangan din ng oil catch can at andyan pa yung problema sa alarm, etc..

samantalang yung fortuner at trailblazer hindi ganun..

Thanks sa advise. I decided to wait for another week since I got a good discount from the dealership. Kung trailblazer kasi wala din palang stocks yung malapit na dealership samin at the moment.

are you sure? we owned a montero pero hindi ko na experience mga ganyan.

yun alarm hindi naman problem yun masyado lang mataas ang sensitivity dali lang adjust yun.

yun oil catch can...maski fortuner kailangan din, or other cars na may TURBO maski mga EVO,STI nag lalagay, yun Trooper nga namin nilagyan ko din oil catch can eh FYI.

EGR depende na sa tao yun. yun fortuner nag EGR blank din, pati mga Ranger,Strada,Everest etc.

usok? yes may usok yun monterosport namin non-vgt 2010 model yun pag piniga mo yun gas pedal, pero hindi naman OA yun usok habang tumatakbo ka usok siya ng usok katulad ng mga bus and delivery truck...bakit mga fortuner din naman may usok ah? hindi ka pa ba nakakita? pati nga innova meron din.

normal lang yun may usok sa diesel car. gusto mo walang usok mag gasoline ka na suv.

so ano sagot mo sa mga oil catch can,alarm na related problems? and ano yun mga etc pa na problema ng monterosport? yun sudden acceleration din baka gusto mo i sama?

The Montero may tend to have smoke but most i've seen we're the white wiff (while idle) or black wiff when under sudden pedal input situations that involves a immediately richer fuel mix. It's not alarming and i would assume that if they are properly maintained and given a good carbon cleaning italian tune-up regularly, these should not pose any emission problems in the long run.

However, whether it be a D4d of 4d56, you can tell when they have emissions that are bad due to poor maintenance or faulty fuel systems. These are usually characterized by the black smoke floating even under light acceleration. The Innova G i was following last Monday at the NLEX Mindanao Ave exit was such. He cut me off unintentionally and tried to make amends and accelerate so as to put space between us, and i could see the black smoke floating out; this was a 2010 or 2011 model based on his plate and bronze body color.

When i also first bought my Innova J (second hand), it had a low mileage and the owner rarely used it so when i brought it out on NLEX for the first time I had a thick trail of carbon build up smoke when i pushed it hard. After another change oil and cleaning of the air filter, and a few more highway runs, the smoke was gone. Our Hiace Grandia also has carbon build up when it gets relegated to short city duties inbetween our out of town trips.

Anyway, between the Fort and the Monty, i still prefer the former as despite it's age, it seems to have aged well and i prefer the seats and interior trim of the Fortuner.

Is the 2.5 V AT 5 speed or has the same 4 speed sa 2.5 G AT? Just inquiring because I'm planning to change my Eve to Fort or TB.

Same 4 spd transmission on all variants. Not really a deal breaker though.

Personal preference is really where it all boil down to, whether you prefer Monty or Fort.

Both are diesel engines, and diesel engines (generally) emits more smoke compared to gas engine ones.

Difference is mainly how good the engine (or car) is maintained and lots of other differentiating aspects (sudden pedal to the metal, heavy load, road condition, tire PSI, etc.)

Respect each other's opinion and as much as possible, avoid bashing or contradicting other's findings. What they saw/experience might be different that yours. And also avoid stating mere fallacies especially if they are from hearsays and were not generally acknowledged as the SUV's fault or defect.
