Good day. I have a Subaru Forester 2014 2.0 non-turbo. Motor Image recommends replacement of CVT fluid every 40,000 kms but on-line its around 105,000 kms. Which is true? Is it safe to have it changed every 60,000 or 80,000 kms. Thank you very much. 🤔

We have too much idling bro. They always cut half the interval. As per manual...

"CVT oil should be replaced under severe driving at 24,855 miles "

That's 40,000 kilometers. Does not sound excessive to me. However, how can one prolong the replacement cycle if I may ask?

Motor Image advised that CVTF needs to be replaced at 40k KM actual mileage. I highly suggest not prolonging any further the CVTF change. Your are talking about the tranny here.

Hi! I have a 2014 Subaru XV with odo of 39.5k. Planning to have the CVT fluid changed.

    I contacted FUSION R along E.Rod quoted

    4,500 - 6L CVT fluid
2,600 - 3qrts Gear oil, FRONT AND REAR
    1,600 - labor

My question is, tama ba 6L lang ang oil? I read somewhere na need 13L para maflush lahat ng oil sa tranny.

Need help. Pag sa casa ba, how much aabutin and ilang liters ang nagamit? And saan pa kaya gumawa ng CVT fluid change ng Subaru? Nagdadalawang isip ako sa FusionR eh. Thanks.

Based on foreign Subie sites, the CVT tranny requires a high-torque CVT fluid. Below are the specs. They say there are only a few aftermarket options, more so with the Forester XT, due to the high torque requirements of Subaru. Redline is one of the few aftermarket options. Also, many suggest that a CVTF change needs all the old fluid to be changed (13L). A simple drip and refill method will not do as there will still be a lot of the old fluid left in the tranny assembly.

    NS-2/Linear Tronic CVTF,pt# K0425Y0710 CV-30 High Torque CVT Fluid ( TF690, TR580)

Red Line Synthetic Oil - Automatic Transmission Fluids - Non-Slip CVT

Motul Multi CVTF also claims to meet NS-2 specs. These synthetic CVT fluids are pricey!

I stand corrected from my previous post that cvt fluid will be replaced every 100k km. Subaru cebu advised me to replace my cvt fluid at 40K Km but i replaced it at 45k km. I read in subaru forums that they change their cvt fluid every 65k miles to 70k miles.

Change CVT fluid for Subaru Forester SJ5 is every 70T kms ... that's according to one dealer ... another dealer will give a different answer ... CVT fluid change interval should be in the manuals ...

Philippine traffic is horrible for the CVT. I'd follow the shorter interval, to be safe.

I've seen various NEW automatics (CVTs, dual clutch, even torque converter type!) overheat in our weather. Granted, that's under extreme use (track, three hour EDSA traffic), but that just tells you how bad local conditions are compared to US conditions.

In US forums, they recommend shortening intervals to 40k miles to extend the life of the CVTs for some of those JATCO boxes.

It's an extra expense, but so's a new transmission.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
