It has also been two days since the incident and not a single member of the team or coaching staff has made a statement or even shown up for an interview. This makes things seem even more suspicious in the eyes of outsiders.
The online discussion has also devolved into a class war: poor vs elite, Bisaya vs Luzon, probinsiyano vs Manileño -- doubtlessly fueled in part by Rene's humble roots in the Caraga Region, one of the historically poorest regions in the Philippines. It also doesn't help that he last represented Davao; and with the Ateneo being known to be pro-Leni, you now add deep political color into the mix.
