Less than 1 second left, inbound by Escalona from the top of the key, JC Intal (with the hot hand) decoys up while Doug Kramer sneaks away down below for a quick catch and release. Ateneo wins by 1 (but loses the series in game 3).

So who will be the next rookie coach to take it from DLSU?

The funny thing is I've never watch a live UAAP games during college. Lagi pa naman champion UST that time.

nung nadali iyong tuhod niya ng sophomore year (?) niya parang hindi na din bumalik dating laro niya.

parang i remember he was part of the coaching staff of coach epok quimpo (who was recently appointed as the new team manager of the blue eagles) in the lady eagles camp last year. prior to that i think he lived in the states for several years

i wonder how it'll affect the uaap campaigns of up and ateneo if and when they switch the start of their respective academic calendars to the month of september. i heard they may start this new curriculum sched as early as next year

Na-jinx. Nung HS kami, siya yung binansag ba naman ng "the next Alvin Patrimonio". Ayun, na-injure and he was also out of the team for a while due to academics AFAIK. Wala pang program na maayos yung Ateneo so I guess nasapawan din siya ng UST-DLSU-FEU players of that era.

One thing about Ateneo though, laging malakas yung juniors team. Even during the "dark ages".

Speaking of iyak... i guess Mariano is now listed as one of the bigger game fails in the UAAP to date. I recall the same for Paul Artadi back in 2002 (game 2 of the ADMU vs. UE final 4 series). The game was tied and Artardi drove in for what could have been the game winner but lost the ball. The ensuing play of Ateneo saw LA Tenorio passing the ball to Gec Chia... the rest was history.

^ wala kasi siya playing time sa dlsu. fully stacked posisyon niya pag grad niya ng high school. nung mga panahon na iyon may mga fil-ams pa sila sa "team d" nila na projected sana maglalaro in a few years time

They should consider also foreign players who pretty much lived and grew up in the country (i.e. Kirk Long). Or really limit foreign players to one on the line-up.

AFAIK, the UAAP has a rule that only one foreign, non-Filipino player can be on the court at any given time.

Di bale na kung lima ang foreign player nyo basta one at a time lang ata ang puede sa playing court

may nabasa ako kung hindi di ko lang malala kung si yeng guiao o si chino trinindad ata, dapat daw magkaron talaga ng regulation sa UAAP/NCAA lalo na yung pagkuha nang mga sentro.

Sinample nya yung UAAP, may 8 teams pag may tag 2 foreign player edi 16, yung 16 slot na para sa sentro na pinoy ang nawawalan nang exposure at chance na madevelop.
