    Medyo araw talaga ng UST today. Akalain mong 29 secs nag-turnover sila, tapos twice nakapag-attempt ang La Salle at point blank range natalo pa. Hehe.

    Huwag nang paabutin ng third game, kundi mas delikado lalo ang UST. Baka ma-upset pa. Congrats to us, at least in this first game.

    UST bucks wild finish to take game one of the finals versus La Salle

    Despite getting two chances, the De La Salle University Green Archers were unable to make up a one-point difference, conceding a 73-72 win to the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers, in game one of UAAP Season 76's Finals series, Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

    UST's win snapped La Salle's nine-game victory streak, and continued their momentum from dispatching the top-seeded NU Bulldogs in the Final Four.

    Green Archer Jason Perkins nailed a big three-pointer to get his team within two, 68-66, just prior to the arena barker's call of "last two minutes," but Jeric Teng was there for the response, hitting a jumper over a pair of Archers, to keep UST's lead at two possessions.

    On the other end, Arnold Van Opstal drew a foul and hit both charities, as DLSU stuck close, 70-68, 1:26 left. Jeric Teng was unable to answer back, and he gave up a foul on his younger brother Jeron, who split at the line, 70-69.

    With Karim Abdul being denied the ball, Kevin Ferrer took it upon himself to make something happen and he did, canning a triple to widen the gap back to four anew. La Salle however went right back to Jeron Teng and he delivered with an and-one play, 73-72, 29 seconds remaining, ensuring this went down the wire.

    Off a UST timeout, a sloppy inbounds pass couldn't be handled by Aljon Mariano, and DLSU got the ball back with a two-second difference between the game and shot clock. They couldn't make something happen though, thanks to UST's swarming defense, as Almond Vosotros' shot failed to connect, and LA Revilla's follow-up was similarly offline.

    Game two is set for Saturday, also at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. - AMD, GMA News

    Congrats to my alma mater! What a breathtaking game! The DLSU Animo Squad showed sportsmanship when they did the "Go USTe" cheer after the game.

    Let's keep the fire burning and bring the crown back to Espaņa!
