Considering their lineup, i think they're fairly doing well schedule wise or not. As long as they're in the top 8 teams of the west I don't see any problems.

But I hope they miss the Playoffs so that Shaq and Jackson will be redeemed of Lakers management decision to kick them out. I think they $uck big time releasing 2 former MVPs and Coach of the year.

I hope my fav teams in the west(Houston & Utah) make the playoffs instead of the Lakers.

to be fair to Lakers management, they really only kicked Phil out, and even then it's debatable that he maybe asked for a ridiculous extension so Buss would be forced to look elsewhere (because he was tired of running the Kobe-Shaq daycare).

Kobe and Shaq basically forced Buss to choose between the two of them, and to the contrary, they were in deep talks with Malone before Kobe (again) f--ked things up for them.

i believe Houston is a lock for the playoffs - Utah, maybe not so much unless Kirilenko comes back soon and with a vengeance (the guy should get a few MVP votes this year for sure)

    Carter Finally got his Wish

Raptors trade Carter to New Jersey
By JON KRAWCZYNSKI, AP Sports Writer
    December 17, 2004

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- All-Star Vince Carter was traded by the Toronto Raptors to the New Jersey Nets for Alonzo Mourning, Eric Williams, Aaron Williams and a pair of first-round draft picks Friday.

Carter, on the injured list with a strained left Achilles' tendon, was at the Raptors' morning shootaround, but did not accompany the team to Conseco Fieldhouse for its game against the Pacers.

``Anytime you lose a guy like Vince, it's a big blow,'' Toronto forward Donyell Marshall said at the arena. ``He was to Canada what Michael Jordan was to the Bulls.''

``Obviously they felt that was the best deal on the table for us,'' said Marshall, who spoke to Carter at his hotel room. ``We're going to miss Vince as a player and as a person. We wish him the best.''

The trade was first reported by the New York Daily News on its Web site and ESPN.com.

Carter has been an All-Star the past four seasons. He's still one of the NBA's most popular players because of his high-flying dunks, though he's been hurt in recent seasons.

The Nets play at Toronto on Sunday, giving Carter a quick look at his former team

A fresh start for VC, and teaming up with Kidd and Jefferson, they will surely be entertaining. But their frontcourt is a mess...

Saw the the Lakers - Kings game last night, it was one of Kobe's best games of the season, letting his teamates operate in the first half (7pts./ 7asts.) and putting the Kings away in the second half (24pts. / 5ast.) finishing with 31, 6 and 7 dimes. They absolutely blitzed the Kings putting them away in the 3rd, for their first win against a top 4 team in Western Conference. Lamar Odom was also huge, exposing Webber's matador defense enroute to 22pts. and 7 rebs. Suprise player of the night, Tierre Brown's 15pts. and 4 asts. The current Lakers' are athletic and deep, its just a matter of putting it all together, and of course its depends on how Kobe wants to lead them.
