so it's confirmed.. babalik na si Hatfield ang maglalaro na sa Gins.. lakas nang Ginebra ngayon!
from philstar..
Comebacking Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) star Rudy Hatfield’s agent Bill Rosmarino says he has no idea if the "H-Bomb" plans or hopes to reconcile with long-time former girlfriend Rufa Mae Quinto.
"No comment on that one," says Rosmarino. "I don’t get involved in his love life, only his basketball life."
Hatfield is arriving here from the US on Aug. 28 with Rosmarino. He is rumored to be dating an American girl in Michigan. "I hope his new team will put him up in a place for about two weeks while he looks for something permanent," says Rosmarino. "When he left Manila (last year), it was like he was never coming back. He’s got a lot of good playing years to go so I think he’ll make an immediate impact once he’s back on the court."
Rosmarino says listing Eric Menk and Hatfield — the Michigan connection — in the same lineup is an exciting development and Ginebra can only get better for it.
Hatfield, 28, has averaged 13.1 points and 10.7 rebounds in 192 games from 2000 to 2004-05. Before playing for Coca-Cola, he suited up for Tanduay and Pop Cola.
In 2002, Hatfield was voted the Finals MVP when the Tigers won the All-Filipino crown. The next year, he was named Defensive Player of the Year by the PBA Press Corps and led Coca-Cola to the Reinforced championship.
Hatfield played two seasons for the University of Michigan at Dearborn, averaging 17.2 points in 62 games. As a senior in 1998-99, he shot at an 18.9 clip. Menk saw action for Lake Superior State, also in Michigan.

Welcoat wants Adducul, talks with GinebraAno ba itong nabasa ko........si Adducul daw sa PF na?
Rommel Adducul could well be reunited with his former PBL mother club Welcoat Paints.
Joining the PBA in its coming 2006-07 season, Welcoat is now in hot pursuit of its former prized slotman around whom the team wants to build its lineup in its maiden voyage in the pro ranks.
The Asian Coating Inc. franchise is so keen on re-acquiring the services of the 6-foot-5 Cagayan native that it has dangled tempting offers to Barangay Ginebra for a possible trade deal.
Welcoat top honchos Raymund Yu and Terry Que cornered Barangay Ginebra board representative Robert Non for some discussions at an airport lounge on their way here yesterday.
The Welcoat officials, who are hosting the PBA board of governors’ three-day summit here, hope to settle their deal with Ginebra with regards to the services of Adducul before the Annual Rookie Draft set Sunday at the Market! Market! in Taguig.
Non said Welcoat’s offer looks okay but he’ll still discuss the matter with the Ginebra coaching staff led by Jong Uichico.
Welcoat is offering its first round pick next year in exchange for Adducul. With a shaky lineup, the Dragons could be cellar-dwellers in the 2006-07 season and may gain the No. 1 pick overall in 2007.
"The top pick prospects next year are Fil-Am Joe Devance and Rob Reyes. So it looks like Welcoat has a tempting offer to us," said Non."Sa akin okay na yan, but I’ll still consult my coaching staff."
"Sa amin na sana nila ibigay si Rommel. Kung sa ibang team baka makasakit pa si Rommel sa kanila. With us, there’s no harm done because we’re surely be the whipping boys," said Yu.
Welcoat’s rights for the No. 10 and No. 11 picks in the coming draft are the team’s other trade bait to Ginebra for Adducul. But this is not amenable to the Kings.
"Pinamigay na nga ni Jong yung draft picks niya this year eh," said Non, referring to the trade that had them giving away draft picks plus some players to get Billy Mamaril, Rafi Reavis and Rudy Hatfield from Coca-Cola in return.
Adducul, former MVP winner in the NCAA and the defunct MBA, has become dispensable at Ginebra following the arrival of Mamaril and Reavis. Apparently, also up for trade is 6-foot-9 slotman Andy Seigle.
Free agent Poch Juinio is another veteran center being seriously considered for the Welcoat squad to be handled by coach Leo Austria with Caloy Garcia and Bogs Adornado as his deputies.
Yu said Adducul’s poor free-throw shooting could well improve under the care of Adornado, the team’s shooting coach.
So far, Welcoat has recruited 10 players in Jay Sagad, JayR Reyes, Junjun Cabatu, Froilan Baguion, Jojo Tangkay, Gilbert Lao, Rob Wainwright, Denver Lopez, Adonis Sta. Maria and Nino Gelig
He-he! Gulo ata ah........Ano ba talaga, Kuya?
Eto naman yung nabasa ko sa Abante about Adducul
ADDUCUL TO PUREFOODS?
Abangan natin.

RITUALO SNIPING LEADS SMB-RP BOMBING OF LEBANON
TNT’s chief gunner finishes with 7 triples en route to a game-high 23 points
Sunday, 13 August 2006
Ren-Ren Ritualo had 15 of his game-high 23 points in the second period, inclusive of five triples, as the San Miguel Beer-backed Team Philippines bucked a lackluster start to rout Lebanon’s national squad 94-75 Sunday at the Cuneta Astrodome in the first of their two-game goodwill series.
Led by Ritualo’s second quarter explosion, the Filipinos outscored the Lebanese 39-19 in that period, overcoming deficits of as much as 10 in the first 12 minutes of play.
The third-leading local scorer in the past 2005-06 season of the PBA, Ritualo went 5-of-8 from behind arc in a 22-9 run by the SMB-RP Team which turned a 15-24 deficit at the start of the second period into a 37-33 lead which the Filipinos held on to until the final buzzer.
Ritualo went 7-for-16 from rainbow country overall.
“Our players did what they had to do and credit should be given them. They executed well and held their own in rebounding against Lebanon, who also probably didn’t have the legs yet after having arrived just a few days ago,” said coach Norman Black, who handled the Nationals in lieu of national coach Chot Reyes, who is currently in Taipei with the San Miguel Beermen in an Asian Invitational club tournament.
But Reyes, in a text message he sent to his players through SMB-RP Team assistant coach Djalma Arnedo after the game, said he was so proud of the Nationals’ effort.
“There is nothing that makes a coach prouder than to see his team flourish in his absence. It means the players and coaches understand what true teamwork is about. Congrats!” Reyes said in his text message.
Ranidel de Ocampo and Mike Cortez also finished in double figures with their 12 and 10 points, respectively, and were two of five players who had five rebounds to lead SMB-RP in rebounding.
Jimmy Alapag, who also had five boards, quarterbacked the team beautifully with seven assists, more than making up for his finishing only with three points.
SMB-RP, which led by as much as 21 points, shot 37% from three-point range, making 14 of their 38 attempts, compared to just 22% (6 of 27) for the Lebanese. The Filipinos also had 26-19 edge in assists and only had 17 turnovers to Lebanon’s 24.
Lebanon, which is using the two-game series to prepare for its upcoming stint in the World Basketball Championships in Saitama, Japan later this month, was led by the 16 points and 10 rebounds of Brian Feghali.
The Lebanese, who also got strong efforts from big men Roy Samaha (15 points and eight rebounds) and Joseph Vogel (13 points and six rebounds), will have a chance to avenge the defeat when it takes on the Filipinos again this Wednesday at six in the evening at the Araneta Coliseum.
With top player Fadi El Khatib scoring 10 of his 11 points in the first period alone, Lebanon raced to 18-8 and 20-10 leads in the first period before Ritualo woke up sparse crowd with his outside sniping in the second quarter.
The Lebanese qualified for the world championships after finishing a strong second behind China in the Asian Basketball Confederation tourney last year. It is one of four Asian teams competing in the world championships, the other three being China, Qatar and host Japan.
The Philippines failed to compete in that Asian qualifying tournament as a result of its still being suspended by FIBA. (FM)

PBA dome? It’s about time
By Nelson Beltran
The Philippine Star 08/14/2006
MACAU — The Philippine Basketball Association’s long-time cherished dream to have its own home could finally be a reality in two to three years.
With giant corporations PLDT and San Miguel Corp. leading the bandwagon, PBA ball clubs have reached a consensus to pursue the ambitious project.
"This has been the PBA’s dream for a long time. We did a lot of fire-fighting the last three years. We’ve corrected our mistakes and we have to start planting seeds," said PBA board chair Ricky Vargas.
"I had an informal talk with (San Miguel’s) Robert Non. He said they also want the project to go now. San Miguel Corp. being receptive with the idea made me more excited about the project," Vargas added.
There was actually no resolution passed about the matter in the PBA board meeting Saturday. But the governors gave their nod on their dream project in an informal discussion yesterday morning.
There were reports PLDT chairman Manny Pangilinan and SMC big boss Danding Cojuangco had given their go-signal for the PBA to work on it. The two giant corporations could end up merging for this undertaking.
"We estimated the amount of money we’ve spent in coliseum rentals the last three years. Buo na ang PBA coliseum kung dito namin dinala yung rental fees namin," said Non.
At present, the PBA pays P200,000 for the use of the Araneta Coliseum per play date. Besides that, teams spend around P5,000 each almost everyday in gym rental for their practices.
The idea is to put up a state-of-the-art complex, housing the PBA dome, possibly a practice gym, fitness center and stalls where PBA clubs and other business entities can market their products.
Commissioner Noli Eala said the Quezon City government has offered to lease for 75 years its prime and sprawling property along Edsa corner Quezon Ave. Eala said they started talks with Quezon City Mayor Sonny Belmonte last year.
It’s actually been the PBA’s dream for a long time. The PBA went as far as making a feasibility study under the chairmanship of Sta. Lucia governor Buddy Encarnado. The project, however, was shelved as the league confronted problems on Fil-sham and drugs issues.
"I will pursue this. Hindi ako mapakali pag mayroon akong project," said Vargas.
"My spirit was dampened when I heard news that SM Corp. intends to build a coliseum. But my spirit was lifted when I found out that San Miguel wants to have our own," Vargas added.
Red Bull governor Tony Chua, who is to assume the board chairmanship next year, is willing to waive his turn just for Vargas to pursue and complete the project.
"I’m willing to wait or even waive my turn for the chairmanship. Kahit three seasons mag-chair si Ricky hanggang hindi tapos ang PBA coliseum, okay sa akin," said Chua.
Welcoat’s Raymund Yu pitched in his contribution by offering paints to be used in the entire complex.
^^^ ok iyan basta sa QC pa din gawin ..(lapit sa place namin ..hehehe)
sana nga matuloy na yang pba coliseum... para mas mabuhay pa ang pba...![]()
