    Mission accomplished for Gilas Pilipinas

"Gilas Pilipinas delivered beyond expectations with a 3-0 record. In the three qualifying windows dating back to February 2020, Gilas Pilipinas has six wins to show for with zero defeats.

This squad is a validation of the long-held belief that lengthy preparation coupled with players who buy into a system designed by a world-class tactician in Tab Baldwin trumps any collection of big name pros and superstars who are given less than two weeks to prepare for major international competitions. It showed in how Gilas Pilipinas played like a well-oiled machine on both ends of the floor in this last qualifying window."

    And everybody say AMEN

Agree, I think a number of guys in this "Gilas Team" will not play sa PBA.

From what I can see, Ramos, Kai and (of course) Kouame will not play sa PBA

Isama mo na jan sa listahan si balti baltazar. Baldwin's desire to develop him in to a solid wing will make him a more attractive commodity in international pro hoops. I mean If raymond almazan was already being wooed by a japan bleague team a few months back, no doubt the said team will be taking a long hard look at the 6'7 wingman from dlsu, who is a younger and better version of the aforementioned meralco center.

Btw, gilas member and up grad jaydee tungcab was already set to fly and play in japan early this year but the covid19 epidemic forced him to stay and apply for the pba draft. The indefinite closure of the japanese embassy and the prolonged closure of its borders to foreigners were too much of an uncertainty w/c compelled him to just stay put and hunker down w/ the tnt franchise, w/c drafted him.

Incidentally, si kouame tinitingnan na daw ng milwaukee bucks ayon kay baldwin. If he instead stayed in cote d'ivoire and not trained under the watchful eye of the american-kiwi coach, i'm pretty sure doors like these won't open up for him.

do what you gotta do so you can do what you wanna do

Oo nga naman, kahit 2 years lang. Maiksi ang 1 year to get a feel of AdMU, kaya sakto lang 2 years for a much lasting memory.

hindi pa naman siya gurang next year bro. his body needs to mature more pa nga so even if he plays in the uaap next season, that spells more time for him to make his body stronger and heftier via the weights room - w/c is a must for coach tab. like i said, si almazan nga at pati si calvin abueva , na nasa early 30's na, tinangkang madagit pa din ng teams sa japan bleague -ito pa kayang mga new grad players natin.

Ramos will be 23 this year. I dont know what kind of maturing you want from him. He is a man among boys.

if you took the time to read properly, we were talking about balti baltazar.

and just to dwell more on my point re baltazar's physique , what i'm saying is he's so lean he could use more heft to ensure durability in the rough and tumble foreign basketball scene. his current gangling body build may not be enough to withstand the body banging out there especially if he's in it for the long haul.

and since you brought up ramos, he's practically a converted uno who's been fine tuning his skills as a facilitator for only a year or so under baldwin. his on court decision making needs more fine tuning if he wants to be effective in international pro hoops especially since europe is one of his probable destinations, where he could again, learn more since the euro hoops scene is now unanimously considered to be the intellectual center of basketball.

and furthermore, just like for any mere mortal, college is a tool of preparation for whichever career path one wants to take in the future. just because a talented individual , like ramos in this case, desires to be a pro baller - it doesn't mean he could extricate himself from the learning process and wing it in the real world. only a handful of truly gifted ones can do that and succeed.

Re: Balty Baltazar, he has the muscles. He actually is more beefed up now compared to his college self. I think he has to eat right & eat more. Deworming miht help too[emoji51]

Re: Dwight Ramos, Euro ball might be too much of a big step for him. Asian hoops might be a better fit & if coached right, Euro ball will come.

well si coach rajko toroman naman ang nagbanggit niyan. pwede naman sa 2nd tier ng euro leagues muna siya before (and if ever) he gets a call up.

btw, there were 2 youngsters playing pros in the junior league na sa europe. iyong isa reverted back to amateur status when he decided to play for a div 1 college in the usa. the other one is still in barcelona ata. too bad he already represented spain in the international youth scene kaya hindi na siya pwede mag gilas.
