Looking past the 2011-2012 season- Celtics locked and loaded in 2013 - Celtics Title Town
With only Rondo, Pierce and another player signed beyond the 2012 - 2013 NBA Season, the Celtics is the leading candidate for Dwight Howard's next destination aside from the Magic.
That's a part from the John Lennon classic Imagine. I'm a dreamer when it comes to Dwight Howard. He's the biggest free agent the Celtics will see after they have cap space in 2012,and Dwight is the best center in the game, and it's a dyeing breed now. I have brought up Dwight Howard many times, but this will be different.
Why would Dwight want Boston? He would play with the greatest passer in the game Rondo. Look how Rondo, and Shaq bounced off of each other. Rondo, and Howard would play better together, and that's because Dwight's in his prime.
Boston will have a better future than Orlando. Nelson maxed his ability, and he's a good point guard, but he's lost in the mix because of the stock pile of great point guards in the NBA. The Magic have Gilbert Arenas, and his massive contract. The Celtics will have cap space, and the Celtics have one of the top five point guards in the league, and if Rondo developes a jump shoot he's simply number one.
Garnett making the Celtics-Sixers series his playground.
Garnett making the Celtics-Sixers series his playground | NBA.comGarnett will turn 36 years old on Saturday, but he's proving that age ain't
nothin' but a number and any health issues are a thing of the past. If this is the last playoff run for this group of Celtics, KG is going to leave it all out on the floor. That's a scary thought for the rest of the East, because no one in the conference can match Garnett's combination of size, skill and drive."He's just cranked it up to another level in this whole playoff series," Thaddeus Young said. "We just have to go out there and find a way to stop him."

Celtics lead Philly 3-2 winning 101-85 taking charge in the second half.

BOSTON -- Brandon Bass scored 18 of his postseason career-high 27 points in the third quarter on Monday night as the Boston Celtics pulled away from the Philadelphia 76ers to win 101-85 and take a 3-2 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal series.
Kevin Garnett added 20 points and Rajon Rondo had 13 points and 14 assists for the Celtics, who can advance to the East finals with a victory in Philadelphia in Game 6 on Wednesday. The Sixers would need a win there to force the series back to Boston for a
decisive seventh game Saturday.
Elton Brand scored 19 and Evan Turner had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Philadelphia, which led by six points early in the third quarter before Boston scored 14 of the next 16 points.

What's Kevin Garett's next move......
hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2012/06/03/whats-the-next-move-for-kg/
Kevin Garnett wants to play another year. That’s what some of his teammates believe, and even his ex-teammates. As Kendrick Perkins said recently: “I think he will. It’ll probably depend on the money, and if he can win a championship wherever he goes.”
There are other possible landing places as well. Maybe the Lakers? Garnett has a home in Malibu, and the Lakers have Kobe Bryant. What they don’t have is cap room, but that can be resolved if they agree to a sign and trade for Pau Gasol.
The Lakers desperately want Gasol’s contract (three years, $60 million) off the cap and tried to trade him last summer. The Celtics, with only Pierce and Rondo making decent money, could take Gasol, although that would likely prevent them from
re-signing Brandon Bass.
How about the Mavericks? If they don’t get Deron Williams or Dwight Howard, they could pair Garnett with Dirk Nowitzki, although KG would have to play primarily at center. here’s also Brooklyn, but only if the Nets keep Williams and get Howard and somehow convince KG to take a little less. The Clippers would be in play only if they could get someone to take DeAndre Jordan‘s
remaining $33 million, which seems unlikely.

The Celtics All-Star is returning to Boston for three years and $34 million. Garnett, 36, spent the first 12 seasons of his career in Minnesota and the last five with the Celtics, where he won a championship in 2008.Garnett turned back the clock in the Celtics’ run to the Eastern Conference finals this season and averaged 19.2 points and 10.3 rebounds during their playoff run.Garnett’s return allows the Celticsto move on to other pressing matters when free agency begins at midnight. Ray Allen is a free agent and is reportedlya target of several teams, including the NBA champion Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns.
Great news re: KG. and, at a reasonable amount.
I also like the way the Celtics drafted ( Jared Sullinger, Fab Melo, Kris Joseph). The C's get young, athletic bigs who can run with Rajon Rondo. I just hope Doc Rivers gives them some PT because they need to develop fast. That guy Sullinger looks like he can contribute right away, barring any back issues.
Kaso 3 years? Dapat 1-2 years na lang si KG. I hate seeing him playing way too long. Pero baka kung hindi na din siya competitive kusa na rin yan mag-retire. But for now, go KG21!!!
Former La Laker Kareem Abdul Jabbar retired at 41, KG is going 37, given 3 years he'll be 40. I still see him contributing for the Celtics baring any major injuries along the way, his intensity and work ethic are the intangibles that this franchise needs to build around for the years to come.
From what info I've seen so far, the 3rd year is not guaranteed. If KG's no longer competitive and can't run with the younger bigs (at least, in his eyes), I think he'll be the first one to walk away as he holds himself to a higher standard when it comes to playing. Plus, DA is getting him some help on the front line so he won't have to keep playing center.
If Mr. Shuttlesworth goes to another team (hopefully not in South Beach), I hope the C's can land Jason Terry to inject offensive punch into the 2nd unit. I think he can also play some PG since he was used in this role early in his career with Atlanta.
Yeah most probably 3rd year is an option. KG is too proud to let the young guns just stymied him... he will probably do the decent thing.
*ans_lim: Siyempre hindi lahat kagay ni KAJ diba. Tsaka mas matagal na sa NBA si KG dahil 17 pa lang ata siya eh naglaro na. Iba na din kasi yung speed ng game now compared before. But DA did the right thing to surround Rondo with athletic bigs nga. Very good draft for BOS.![]()
Anyone have an idea when the Las Vegas summer league would start? I'm eager to see how JJJ and E'Twuan have developed (if at all). As well as a glimpse of the future with Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo. Boston could use some of that leprechaun luck in getting a young star (a'la Paul Pierce when he landed inexplicably on the lap of the Celtics).
The JET is landing in Boston
From Yahoo! Sports;
Great add, IMHO. Gives depth to the 2-guard spot with AB and potentially (hopefully) Jesus Shuttlesworth. Plus, JT can play PG.he Boston Celtics have reached agreement with Dallas Mavericks free-agent guard Jason Terry on a three-year contract, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The Celtics will use their $5 million midlevel exception to sign Terry. The total value of the contract will be worth more than $15 million.
The C's are a FA big away from getting right back into the mix with Chicago, Miami and Indiana. Not counting on Orlando anymore, unless they do the trade with LA for Bynum.
Your right, Boston is dead serious in getting payback for their last 2 playoff exits at the hands of Miami. As D12 stated he's only interested in playing for the Nets and no other team, otherwise he'll play it out this season before planning his next move. Signing Jason Terry is in anticipation in case Ray Allen bolts to South Beach at least our second unit has some offensive punch. Jeff Green is also expected to sign, and the top priorities is to sign Bass and get another free agent big man and we're good to go.
Source -- Boston Celtics reach agreement with Brandon Bass - ESPN Boston
Celts reached agreement with forward Brandon Bass.
Ray Allen visits Miami Heat with Los Angeles Clippers out, Boston Celtics waiting - ESPN BostonThe Boston Celtics reached an agreement with Brandon Bass Thursday afternoon on a three-year deal, according to a league source.
Bass opted out of the final year of his previous contract in order to secure a longer-term deal, but expressed a strong desire
to return to Boston throughout the latter part of the season.
Bass appeared in 59 games last year -- including 39 starts as he moved to the starting power forward role in the second half of the season -- and averaged career-highs of 12.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
The Celtics acquired Bass from the Orlando Magic last season in a sign-and-trade deal in exchange for Glen Davis. Boston was reluctant to offer Davis a long-term deal (he signed for four years, $25.7 million), but they are clearly more confident this time around with Bass.
Having already secured a three-year extension with Kevin Garnett, the Celtics have reassemble their starting five from last season, pairing Bass and Garnett alongside Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley, and Paul Pierce.
The Celtics are still hoping to bring back top reserve Ray Allen, who gave up his starting role to Bradley late last season.
Allen visited the Miami Heat Thursday and it appears to be a tug-of-war between the two teams to land his services (barring a late entrant).
Clips out, only Miami and Boston remain as Allen's destination for the upcoming NBA season.
The Los Angeles Times reported Thursday that the Los Angeles Clippers have canceled their Friday meeting with Allen after reaching agreements with free-agent guards Jamal Crawford and Chauncey Billups.
Allen is meeting Thursday with the Miami Heat in Florida, and the options widely regarded as his best are now re-signing with the Boston Celtics or accepting the Miami's offer. Heat stars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade have been aggressively recruiting Allen to join them in recent weeks.
The Celtics have offered Allen two years and $12 million, while the most the Heat could offer is three years and $9.5 million. According to a report in the Boston Herald, the Celtics also have dangled the option of a no-trade clause for Allen as part of their offer.Only two players in the league have such clauses, Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki, but Allen is eligible because he has more than eight years experience and has played the past four seasons with the Celtics, the two requirements to give such a guarantee under league rules. Allen was known to have been upset at rumors he might be traded by the Celtics at times in the past.
Right now, the only thing compelling about South Beach is that they just won a title. Mr. Shuttlesworth has made a lot of money already so I don't think the US$9.5M and tax breaks will be much of an attraction.
In contrast, Ray's family has apparently settled in Beantown. His kid is getting the cutting edge treatment for diabetes.
In the end, it'll be about legacy for the future HOFer. Hopefully, his legacy stays green.
