January 16, 2006 -- TORONTO — The pride of Amityville, Mike James, was the backup point guard on Larry Brown's 2004 championship team with the Pistons.

There's a chance the Long Islanders could be reunited, as Brown has believed all season the Knicks need another ball-handler.

Stoudemire told ESPN.com on Friday that he doesn't expect to be able to return until at least March, saying that he and the team are striving for a goal of "two months out" from now. He also said that the option to wait until next season to return is still there as well, citing the fact that, while he wants to win a championship and feels the current Suns team is very close, his health is the most important thing to him right now. The entire organization has stressed that Stoudemire wouldn't be rushed back under any circumstance, even if he appeared ahead of schedule at any point.

Now would be a good time to reconsider your situation if you are holding Amare in your league – it's likely that he will only be active for around the final six weeks of the season, and he will undoubtedly be eased back into the rotation at a snail's pace as more of a tuner for the playoffs. If you have the roster space, it may be worth hanging onto him until the picture becomes more clear, but if you are counting on his late production to pull your team up from some kind of hole, it seems more and more likely that you will be disappointed.

The Miami Heat were in Los Angeles Monday night to play the Lakers. Before the game, while Kobe Bryant was on his back stretching, Shaquille O'Neal went over and reached down to shake his hand. It's not yet known what they actually said to each other but we assume it was friendly. They also spoke and greeted each other just before tipoff around centercourt. World peace is now possible. Children will no longer go hungry. Marriages will never end in divorce. As birds sing and flowers bloom, all of mankind can throw down their arms and rejoice, knowing that a new global brotherhood of peace, unity and happiness now exists. All thanks to Shaq and Kobe.
