makes me wonder what the result would be if it was spain vs usa.
chalk this one up to d'antoni. the small ball would have been ok if amare was in the line-up or 2 mobile big men like bosh or howard. i also don't like the fact that brand is having too much PT. he's an undersized PF.
for me i wouldn't take off battier but then again there's too many small forwards in the line-up, especially if marion is in it. 2-3 years will do the usa players some good. imho most of them are young and they're not yet playing at their peak levels. still no veteran smarts and savvy. it would have been good if kobe and chauncey played.

I think the current team will do, they just need to spend more time together...

"China was the highest Asian entry at No. 11. The Philippines was a lowly No. 65, outranking No. 66 Thailand, No. 72 Indonesia and No. 73 Singapore. Some Asian countries looking down at the Philippines in the FIBA ladder were No. 24 Lebanon, No. 25 Korea, No. 26 Qatar, No. 28 Japan, No. 40 Chinese-Taipei, No. 41 Saudi Arabia, No. 44 Kuwait, No. 50 Hong Kong, No. 52 Malaysia, No. 56 Kazakhstan and No. 61 United Arab Emirates. just saw this ranking by FIBA.just to think we've beaten Lebanon twice few weeks ago, can't believe that we're only rank 65, behind malaysia, HK, taiwan and others.kulang talaga tayo sa programs pagdating sa sports....tsk, tsk, tsk!Last edited by yuichi; September 5th, 2006 at 10:42 AM. yung ibang countries na naka-outrank sa'tin ok lang, pero malaysia and hongkong? parang di ko yata matanggap. mga lampa players ng hongkong eh, unless imported from mainland china o kaya half-brit-half-chinese.
well whatever it is... sana maibalik natin yung glory days natin na talagang ALL FILIPINO basketball team. hindi mga half-breeds na fil-am, fil-tongan, fil-italian, fil-german or kung ano pa mang lahi. parang lumalabas tuloy na palahian lang tayong mga pinoy eh. I wish there would be another Alan Caidic - remember his 18 3-pt shots record, a court general like hector calma, a high flying small forward like samboy lim. but I have to admit, pagdating sa world championship, unless daanin natin sa genetic engineering, wala tayong laban sa malalaki. sabi nga ni Ron Jacobs, in basketball a good big/tall team will almost always beat a good small/short team. it's a matter of physics lang yan.

i really think we've got the "talented" players both inside and outside, its just a matter of good program. sa atin binubuo lang yung team pag malapit na yung laban, unlike dito china talagang may team na kahit naglalaro sila sa commercial league at regular practice at pagsali sa mga int'l tournies. so nagkakaalaman na sila.
ganon din nangyari sa greece at US. 5 years na daw magkakasama yung greek players as a team while US, buwan lang. sa tingin ko mas may ibubuga pa nga ang isang NBA team like detroit or new york or even miami na nagkakalaman na nga laro kesa sa US team....IMO.
