June 12th, 2005 05:08 PM #472mga sir tanong lang po kung meron kayong alam na magaling mag underwash. yung tipong detailed yung ilalim ng sasakyan, tinatanggal din ang gulong para malinis lahat sa ilalim? kung meron , how much? how long does it take? Maganda kasi malinis body tapos pagsilip sa ilalim parang bago parin. Thanks.

Hi guys! I just got my first ROP! Its the whipping boy of all ROPs: The KP600...
The reason I got it is we had a really good discount at our suking tindahan. 2 years din naman warranty. 4,400 RPM pala yun... May extra foam/polishing bonnets pa! Ehehehe. (Are they really that useless?). Anyways, one of the considerations is that when I get more experience with this machine, I'll probably get a rotary for paint corrections but I'll still be using this for wax application even if I get one. I'm targetting the B&D rotary which sells for only 5k.
So tried it on the hood of one of our older vehicles. Really large swirl marks are easily visible under our lighting. I tried the 3M rubbing compound with one of the polishing bonnets. (The garterized one) worked it in until it was just a haze. I then removed it using the buffing bonnet (the one that needs tying). Since I did not have a finer abrasive, I tried scratchX with another polishing bonnet and worked it in until it hazed. Removed it with the buffing bonnet again. Lastly, I used the prestone wax with a foam bonnet.
After everything, there were still swirls but not as pronounced as before. (It was as if the swirls shrunk).
Observations:
1) Wax application with the foam bonnet and removal with the buffing bonnet (I'm not 100% sure this is for buffing or for polishing but this is the woolier one. ILD: need help in identifying!) was very easy. I'm excited on using it on my car tomorrow! Shine and gloss were really better than hand.
2) The ROP was ergonomic, light and very easy to use.
3) I'm a little concerned of the bonnet laces (the one that needs tying) as I think they swing out when the ROP is running ang can marr paint.
Qs:
- I tried looking around ACE and TV and I could not find the 3m waffles. Could you guys point me to where I could buy these.
- The only polishes I could see are DACP (2 gallons), 3m Rubbing compound, 3M SR, and ScratchX. Anyone know where I could get the other 3M polishes. Worst case, will contact simex but I hope I could find the 3m since they sell sachets. In the mean time, can I use 3M Rubbing compound then 3M scratch remover in correcting (or minimizing) minor pain defects?
ILD: Any tips or tricks in taking care of this machine. I'm also concerned that the rubber backing plate is not going to last 2 years. Also, the bonnets (specially the foam ones) are a pain to put on and remove.

Patopig: Using a rubbing compound with an ROP is a very bad idea. You would risk thinning out your clear coat in a hurry.
The Blue Bonnet is too thin and rough for me...

ILD: Thanks for your replies! I was reading the manual and I read that the blue (applicator) bonnets are for one time use only.. Is this true? I'm planning on using the blue freebies repeatedly until I get better pads.
I already have a few velcro strips ready. I may have to search for the waffles in Shangrila (TV and Hand right) Are these for both application and polishing?
What pads so you use with your KB600?

ILD: Wah! I have two blue unused bonnets left. I better make good use of them.
Di ba kakayanin kung linisin with just mild cleaners like perwol? Kahit 2 uses man lang.. (2nd use on an older car. :D)
Sorry kulit ko. ehehe. I really appreciate your answers! Thanks!
